Rough country and lots of miles....boots stay on and work
****5 Month Update*****Amazing! We've put close to 300 miles on these boots so far. They are still in great shape and work like magic. I have not had one come off during a ride and the boots don't twist around at a canter, climbing steep hills or anything else. Not has my stallion had any irritation or rubbing while wearing these on 3 hour trail rides.**** Original Review *****First - get your horse trimmed like normal, then immediately measure each foot you want to boot. Then measure them again before you order. I got these for my Andalusian/Mustang cross stallion for trail riding in very rough, rocky desert mountains in West Texas. Both front boots fit perfectly and he's really comfortable - he was cantering in the boots as if he was on soft dirt rather than shale and rocks.Out riding is equally good. It took about 5 minutes for him to get the idea of the boots and make the connection that they keep his feet comfy. He has never needed or had nailed shoes in the 18 years we've been together. We've competed in dressage, show jumped a bit, roped cows, done some low end hunting, and trail ridden all over Texas and other states. I've tried some cheap knockoffs boots before with mixed results. He has wide feet made out steel (want strong hooves, get a mustang cross) and other boots fall off or simply come apart at the seams within the first 50 miles of use. We're conditioning for a couple of 25 to 50 mile overnight rides in the Big Bend area of Texas and I needed hoof protection that was strong, sturdy, weather resistant and uncomplicated. I'm riding almost daily in everything from hard rock roads, to sand to an actual river to steep mesas and shale ledges. The boots stay on and my stallion comes in from a 12 mile ride sound and happy. These were absolutely the correct answer. I'm ordering him a second pair for the rear feet this week. Worth every penny.

Best boots for thin soles
I bought these boots after purchasing the scoot boot. I didn’t like the scoot boot at all, never stayed on in turnout and rubbed my guys heels really bad. I needed boots to help my guy in turnout because he doesn’t seem to want to grow sole. He is about .5 sole depth on the front soles. I absolutely love these and will continue to buy them for him. Not only for turnout but riding also. It took him about a week to figure them out and not stumble but then after that he started picking his feet up nicely and landing flat so not only is he benefitting from the sole growth he’s relearning how to pick up and place his feet which is great.I also started him on farriars formula extra strength and kept him on the loading dose for about three months. Then I cut it back to then normal dose. His soles are shedding now and I can see the growth line coming down about half way so far. The hoof looks tighter, cleaner, his frogs are much more proud and the fissure crack is starting to grown out totally. I absolutely believe the boots and FFES is working hands down.I used to have him shod on all four and the problem was he kept getting narrower and more oblong looking hooves. He finally came up lame and I decided to pull all the shoes and transition to barefoot. Granted his hooves were to the point it took two years to correct but we are at the point now where he has amazing hind hooves and the fronts are at about 75%. To me I am ecstatic to see this. If it wasn’t for trying these boots I don’t think he would have progressed this much in the last 3 months.I turn him out in them at night and in the AM I pull them to stand in his stall. I also use them with the yellow comfort pads that cavallo makes. I tried the other softer ones but they seemed to shred with time. The yellow ones I’ve had about a month and they show no signs of wear. I replaced my Velcro straps with the leather buckle type closures cavallo makes only because when you use the Velcro ones grass and mud and sand gets in them and they just don’t last very long. I was tired of cleaning them all the time. The buckles are ehhhh cheaply made for the price of them, I think they could be a tad thicker with more buckle holes but they do last and I love them.I don’t like the cavallo socks bc they don’t stay put when riding so I just went to the local feed store and picked up some winter tube socks by real tree and slide those on up to his knees whenever I ride in sand or gravel. I like to think it protects his coronary and skin from being rubbed raw by the little pebbles. Also bc during the break in period the boots do tend to run the heel bulbs but the socks did stop that and worked great until they broke in. After the break in period I stopped the socks during turnout and only use them for arena riding. In my oinion these boots are amazing for the price, mine have never come off, not caused any major issues and serves their purpose that I needed them for. I will continue to use these and stay away from shoes now that I know barefoot on the way to go. I would recommend them for anyone with laminitis, sore or thin soles, barefoot transitioning, trail riding or any type really. These are a godsend.

These are the best boots!!
These boots have been amazing. Easy to put on, easy to take off, do not rotate, and get a great snug fit. I recently have pulled shoes off two of my horses who have poor hoof walls, thin soles and easily lose shoes. These boots have been wonderful~ my horses stay comfortable while their feet grow out. Amazon has the best price around- I did add the gel liner and am happy with that as well- I feel the extra cushion is beneficial. It has been very cold here, with hard rutted ground and my horses are staying sound. It did warm up a few days ago, and the horses were walking in mud- so I took the boots off. Completely amazed that there was no mud on their hooves. These boots really keep out the mud and debris, yet they have draining areas so their feet never stay "soaking" if it were to rain. These boots are one of my best purchases- and have held up well.

Decent Boots
Pros: They seem to be well designed and produced. They stayed on well, in spite of being a size too big (my horse is between a 2 and 3). These came in a pair for the price of one, so were an excellent value!Cons: I have a fine boned horse and they don't wrap nearly close enough around the pastern (I cut a pair of my husbands socks...shhh, he doesn't know to use as pastern wraps. This worked pretty well to fill in the gap).Con and Pro: In riding through grass, the outer velcro straps came undone, but the main velcro stayed closed so the boots stayed on, even cantering.

Good quality product - just fit smaller than measurements say
Product did not fit my horse properly and I measured just as instructed - since it is out of the return window I can no longer send them back - which is partially my fault for not understanding the return policy, Good quality product - just fit smaller than measurements say.
