Mikasa Holiday Splendor 8 Piece Nativity Set, Cream

It’s a beautiful set and just very disappointed that the ornaments do turn black, if there is a solution on how to polish it would certainly help

The slip stated they had shipped 3 sets in 1 out of one packages. I quickly found the one and only customer service number and dialed. Must have been exceptionally poor timing because the auto answer claimed no one was available due to a meeting on how to better serve customers. I went from cold calm to fury and hit their site with a scathing (factual) review. Then I found the Amazon customer service avenue and sent an email off to get the sets I had paid for. To the credit of Mikasa, the response was courteous and had complete tracking information on the two sets they sent out, expedited at their expense. I have since received those two sets with one tiny chip on the base of one figurine. When you set it up, it is not visiblee. I would have sought redress but since the flaw is not readily apparent, I instead put a 4 star rating on their craftsmanship. I have always thought Mikasa had a gorgeous catalogue of fine China and these nativity sets are beautiful. The recipients were delighted, as I had first hoped. I heartily wish my personal account of the business side of this purchase didn't have such a sting to it.

I had this set delivered to my mom as a surprise early Christmas gift. Since my father died in 2017, she hasn’t felt like decorating for the holidays. Also everything is in boxes, or too heavy, stored away where she can’t really get to it with her own frail health.I really wanted her to have a decoration she could easily put up and take down by herself (she dislikes depending on others), and something that would comfort and inspire her. She was moved to tears when she opened this set. It’s so beautiful, and so well made. She immediately put it out on her kitchen table, on top of a dark burgundy runner. The color contrasts beautifully with the white and gold. Every time we talk or email she tells me how much it means to her.Shipping-wise it arrived ahead of schedule, and carefully packaged. The box, padding etc will be used for storing once Christmas is over. If she can bear to put it away!Thank you for making this lovely item available at such a reasonable cost, and for taking such care with it. I highly recommend it.

Others mentioned that the gold in some places seems to have rubbed off. Alas, the same is true for the figurines I received. I like the set and look forward to displaying next Christmas but I am disappointed that the gold is smudged or worn and not bright.
