Excellent!
This recorder sounds beautiful. It's a fantastic deal. The windway is straight, the instrument sturdy and well made, the maple wood has a nice pattern and smooth finish. The low F/F# is strong. This recorder is great for playing early, medieval and Renaissance music. The windway is straight. It hits the high notes nicely. Overall, I am very impressed by this recorder, and it's a nice addition to my more expensive Yamaha and Möeck recorders. I see the price going up. Just buy it, it's lovely, and the price still can't be beat for what it is.

Lovely sound well made
This is a lovely instrument very well made. The maple is smooth and it has a rich tone. I am relearning recorder and am delighted this was available. It’s made in China and they have been making musical instruments for centuries so I had no doubt this would be excellent and it is. The low F is a very full sound. Update , I should not be surprised but I just wanted to say the sound gets better and better as I play it. It is really a lovely instrument and sounds very good in ensemble.

Maple alto for $30 - that's crazy !
Just got my new maple alto from Amazon . It got here within 2 days . $30 - that's crazy ! I recently started playing and collecting recorders after watching Team Recorder videos on Youtube . This has proven to be an addictive hobby . So far I've collected over a dozen recorders . Most of them are Yamaha plastic soprano and alto recorders . I wanted a wooden alto , but they were way too pricey . Then I found this one on Amazon for $30 and ordered it . It is a beautiful instrument . I still can't believe the price for what appears to be a quality alto . I don't dare play it yet , as it needs to be oiled first . I ordered a 10 oz. bottle of sweet almond oil from Amazon for around $7 and should arrive tomorrow .I will update this review after I oil and play this recorder for a few days . I have high hopes that this will sound as good as it looks .Update :First of all , the head joint fits way too tight , so I had to lightly sand and steel wool the counter bore on the head joint ( being careful not to get any debris in the fipple ) .Second , after oiling and playing a few days , I was not happy with the sound . It was very hard to get the low F and G to play without jumping octave and squawking . Very sensitive to air flow . The more I play it the better it is sounding . Also this is a new recorder that needs to be broken in . This instrument will never compare to a good quality brand ( Yamaha , Moeck , Kung , etc. ) , but still worth the $30 spent . I am happy with this purchase . I would recommend this for anyone wanting a cheap wooden alto .

A nice maple alto recorder
This maple recorder sounds good, and is very affordable. It has a straight (rather than arched or curved) windward. This is a great starter instrument for the beginning or student alto recorder player, as long as you take proper care of it, especially with regards to handling moisture in the instrument after playing it.

Great for the price
At this price point, you know you aren't getting a top quality instrument. The shock is that you aren't setting yourself up for frustration either. It's a baroque style recorder (which is good) not German. The lowest note if F. The one I received is pretty much in tune and plays clearly. It is actually more forgiving than average.Mine didn't come with a lanyard but I wouldn't use one anyway. The instruction book is a chart of the fingerings with notes on a staff. It's pretty much what is typically included with recorders. Look online if you need more instruction. If, for some reason, you have the budget for a plastic instrument but you really want to play on a wood instrument, this is a satisfying choice. I am enjoying my purchase.

Good upgrade over plastic
I bought an Eastar wooden recorder a few years back, and was disappointed it was pretty badly out of tune. So I knew I was taking a chance with another budget wooden recorder. Either I got lucky, or these guys have great QC. The recorder I received was in excellent tune, and immediately felt like an upgrade over my Yamaha plastic.

Beautiful instrument, but a defect?
This recorder is Baroque, as evidenced by the small nº4 hole. There is no such thing as a recorder which is BOTH German and Baroque. The maple wood is very smooth on the outside and is beutifully finished. A lanyard is specified in the description, however none was included. The fingering chart and any other information thereon is in Chinese and therefore useless to me. A bore swab is included. Overall, the item is further not as advertised in that the cloth case (although nice) is not as depicted and the brand name is not as shown on the Amazon ad. The upper cork joint is extremely tight, but would probably loosen up after some use.The chamfer on the box appears jagged or rough, and seems to be causing undue turbulence such that the right hand (lower) notes are terribly unstable, or just won't sound, regardless of anything I tried to do to get them to sound reliably. This defect also results in random jumping up to various high pitches. The tones, when they do sound properly, are in tune and have a very pleasing quality. This is really a beautiful instrument, except that the one I got has the above problem. This one will be returned for a replacement, but if the next one doesn't perform properly I will have to look for some other recorder. I hate it when this kind of thing happens. This recorder should get a Five Star rating, but for now 2 Stars because of the above problem. This review will be updated after trying the replacement.

Rec’vd recorder with instruction pamphlet in Chinese.
A little disappointed that the instruction pamphlet enclosed was in Chinese. I understand that the recorder came from China but should have instruction pamphlet in English. Good looking recorder but haven’t used until I have time to YouTube a video.
