Can't beat a boar brush.
I've used a shaving brush and cartridge razor for probably 15 years. I used a Burma Shave boar brush all that time..it's amazing it held up that long considering the abuse and neglect it endured. It finally gave out. I bought a cheap synthetic and a DE safety razor, and wasn't impressed by the brush. So, I went down the shaving brush rabbit hole. I now have 4 brushes (Badger, Boar, Syntheticx2), with 2 in the mail. I have this Omega boar, a Jagger best badger, and a Simpson Trafalgar T2 synthetic. This cost a third of the other two, and is my favorite so far. I have a pure badger on the way to see if I like it better than the higher graded badger. I also have a small boar OTW that I think I'm going to fall in love with. Long story short, this is the cheapest brush I own, but so far is my favorite. The best badger feels like a prickly cotton ball that just won't give up any of that lather it soaked up. The Simpson is my second favorite, but I just like the feel and lather of the boar better. The only negative I have is the hollow plastic(?) handle. I mean, it's an $8 brush, so one must temper expectations. Btw, it had no smell out of the box, and just a mild smell wet, after break in soaking overnight in saltwater. After one shave, once dry, the soap smell (I'm using Badger brand ATM, which is mildly scented) is already dominating what little boar smell remains. I suspect after three shaves or so, it will be completely gone.

Stick with it...the best brush for the money.
I have a broad assortment of at least a dozen badger, boar and synthetic shaving brushes. I like most all of them, each having something likable about them.If I had to pick one, it would be hard to argue against one of the Omega boar brushes. With time they become nice and soft, and have just the right blend of backbone and splay to make them very efficient and comfortable little lather monsters.I tried a Semogue boar but found it a little too floppy. The Omegas are much better. They get softer with use, mine never shed more than a hair or two, don't stink and they can really bust out a lather. Many handle designs to choose from, too. The big "professional" boars from them are really fantastic...can easily produce enough lather for 3 shaves with a modest dab of soap or cream.Price is right, too. One of the best brushes period, and their price makes them a great deal.

Nice and stiff.
I've been using a softer, off-brand brush that works fine, but, I really wanted something stiffer. This Omega 10066 is exactly what I wanted. Quite a bit firmer than this one ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C6WSN4YN ) it holds enough to do 2 passes but definitely not 3 (after only 1 shave... so.. might be my technique).I inspected it closely out of the box and it had zero Boar smell. Zero. Even asked my wife to give it a sniff. Still nothing. I soaked it for a few hours then shook it out, and shaved... loved how much control I had over where the lather went compared to the old sloppy brush.New favorite.

Very nice little brush
Nice little brush! I have a bigger Omega knot that I use for head shaves, and I was looking to add a smaller piece for regular shaving. It looks like it will be a great addition to my Omega collection.I soaked it for just 3-4 hours in laundry detergent, and the smell is almost completely gone. After drying, the hairs are already starting to split at the ends.Very happy with how this turned out so far!

Does the job
I bought this because it was recommended by a couple of friends at work. They both said the same thing, super soft, will get the shave cream to foam up on your face, but it stinks. When I pulled it from the packaging I never noticed a smell, but the first time I used it and got it wet I knew exactly what they were referring to. It has a pretty bad stink to it. I am sure it will go away once I have used it t a few times and it will probably smell more like my shave cream than the boar this thing was made of. All in all, I would recommend, but be prepared to use this thing a whole bunch while it smells like ass, then eventually it'll be all sunshine a rainbows.
