Q: Do I use something other than "regular copy paper" for cover/back?Need to have a "cover" that is more substantial.What kind/weight product is best?

Not sure what's "best". This one handles small amounts of plain paper fine. We also did cardstock covers with ~8 plain paper pages (phone directories) without any issues. It isn't a "heavy duty" stapler - basically anything your standard office Swingline can staple, this can too but with a longer reach.

Q: I have been using this stapler for 10 page booklets, but the staples crimp and don't go all the way through. Any ideas why?

Tae a look at chisel point Staples, they have sharpened tips and go through the paper more effectively. Also use a good brand, swingline and Staples brands both work well in my experience but some cheap off brands don't do so well and can jam the stapler or not go all the way through

Q: You said letter size and legal, but will it be able to staple tabloid size as well?

The maximum reach of the stapler arm is about 12 inches. With tabloid size at 11x17, it should be able to staple what you need it to.

Q: Can this open all the way (180 degrees) to staple things into walls easily?

Nope, that won't work. The two parts (the part that goes under the paper and the part that goes over the paper) don't swivel, they're bolted together.
