KatoDC Converter

We are just starting to learn about model train layouts. We had a basic oval N scale track and an older controller, which had 2 screws for DC connection & 2 for AC. I’d been told N scale track used DC, so the 2 AC screws were free. We wanted to add some switches and ordered the Kato DC converter, hoping it would allow us to control a switch. It was just what we needed. It’s really clever. The converter is wired to the AC screws on the track controller. There’s snaps on the side of the converter and the switch control. They just snap together and additional switch controls just snap to each other so you only need one converter. We’ve got 4 switch controls plugged together now. It’s very cool.

I like it. Used to connect my Kato sound box.

TOMIXの旧パワーユニットでKATOの電動ポイントを使う場合は、AC17VからDC12Vを作りホック部分に給電する必要があります。これを使えば一発です。（写真はホックが見えませんが、青い板の裏面にあります）安いので、自作の手間を考えたら、何かの買い物のついでにあわせ買いするメリットは大でしょう。尚、Neoシリーズの新パワーユニットにはAC17V出力がありませんので、この製品は使用できません。

One of those items you never really sure you need, depends on your controller's types of output. I think next time I would build the complete layout before thinking about point switches etc. but not very expensive. You can easily link several Kato point switches to one converter.
