Bought Retail packaging version, got ... something else.
Did not come with the stock Intel CPU heatsink/fan which is supposed to come with all retail packaging models, and which I needed to finish my computer build. The purchase options on Amazon offer Processor/Processor+(aftermarket) Heatsink/Processor+Water Cooler. I didn't want an aftermaket heatsink, didn't need a water cooler, and I knew that retail packaged models are differentiated from the Bulk OEM Tray versions by having a 3 year warranty instead of 1 year and they come with the basic Intel cpu cooler. That's a kind of idirect way of inferring I was going to get what I expected, but there were no less than 12 answered questions for the "Retail" "Processor only" version said it came packaged with a cpu cooler.Lo and behold, when it arrived in my mailbox, it didn't.I'm very bent out of shape with the ambiguity here. Included a photo of the entire package contents that arrived in the white box so other people can see what exactly is included. If you read the fine print, the slip of paper says it's a 3 year warranty, which means technically this is the retail processor, but if that is the retail packaging, I'm the Queen of England. Computer Upgrade King, which is the Amazon seller I bought it through, must be opening the retail boxes and selling the cpu coolers separately. Now I've got to buy the aftermarket CoolerMaster fan anyway. Kicking myself for not just getting the CPU from Newegg like all the other parts... they shipped way faster too.

I bought the retail version under the assumption from the description, price (+$50), and feedback that it came with some sort of cooler. I don't understand the difference or what I paid +$50 for. Reading the product description doesn't seem to help.

When i bought this it said that the OEM version was 199 and the retail version was >200 (i dont remember the exact price). I thought "it makes sense that the retail version is more expensive" so i bought it. When i received it it wasnt in its original packaging so i checked amazon and the prices had switched. I know i didn't read it wrong because I clearly remember thinking "if the retail version comes with a better warranty and/or more things its worth the extra money".
