this deer hoist is nice
This is a nice deer hoist. easy to handle, easy to put together and take down. the only thing i had to do was add a washer on the flip lock on the wench because it didn't stay center of the gear. Had to much play and would lean over to one side and not catch the gear. Easy fix and still worth the money .

Sturdy but make sure the winch wire is on correctly
Upon unboxing the unit, everything looks intact. No damage to shipping box. Holes where the cotter pins go are pretty tight so may take some work on getting them in. This should loosen up over time with a little wd40 help. Device seems sturdy and well built. It should handle most north american game, except larger animals like bigger bears and moose. Upon trying the winch, I immediately noticed the wire was wounded backwards.. Therefore, you just need to unwind the wire and then wind the opposite way. After doing that, the winch works as intended. That's more of a QA issue and not a big concern. I believe it should perform well and I will get a lot of use out of it. This is much better than trying to find a tree to throw your gamble over and then hoisting the game up by hand and wrapping the rope around the tree. It also comes with a convenient bag to transport it in. Overall, this was a nice purchase. I would purchase again.

Solid except the bag
Went together fairly easily. Wish the bolts and nuts were more uniform. Needed 5 different size wrenches to assemble it.The bag is nearly useless. The hoist bracket ripped through the bad almost immediately when placed inside. I would rather have paid more and received a sturdy bag.Have not hoisted a deer yet but there are a few days left in the season.

Wasn’t ready to use
The wench came unassembled with no instructions of how to put it together. Still not certain if we assembled it correctly because the ratcheting mechanism doesn’t seem to work as well as we think it should.
