WorkRite 2133-17 Banana-Board Keyboard Tray w/ 17" pin. arm and Track + Mouse Palm Support

This product is awesome, and this seller handled everything well, especially this listing. I did a bunch of online reading before buying this. This is a long post, if you wonder why you'd care, skip to the bottom-most section that describes some of the messed up listings I found before finding this one.I compared over 20 listings on Amazon, across a number of brands, and read the customer feedback on each. I then searched (Google) for reviews on each of the products, and found reviews that compared a few of the top candidates.Searches on Amazon for "Ergonomic" and "Keyboard Tray" were providing me with 3M, Fellowes, and ESI. The reviews I found (through Google) mentioned HumanScale and WorkRite, and it became clear they are leaders in the space.Comparisons of the two ultimately led to this product. Here's why:Track length: I had 17" available, and wasn't sure I could find anything to fit. Some secondary distributors list smaller tracks, but the smallest track WorkRite offers is 17" (for this board). Other manufacturers' minimum track length is 18" generally, and most boards have tracks that are 21-25".Board size: I use two different computers, and swap between a wireless and bluetooth keyboard. Each keyboard has a number pad. One of the keyboards is fairly deep. Both keyboards fit entirely on this board.Mouse tray position: I have my belly close to the board so I can keep my arms at 90 degrees. The banana board allows the mouse to be close enough to your body that you can swing your arm out to use the mouse. Many other options require reaching forward further, which can negate the ergonomic benefit of the board. If the mouse tray were out to the side instead of being as close to my body, I might hit my knuckles on the desk as I reached for the mouse.Sturdy: The reviews mentioned this board feel sturdy and they're right. It firmly holds the board in place and doesn't shake.Smooth track motion: The Pinnacle 2 track uses ball bearings. Not all tracks do, and that can make them stick when adjusting the tray. The tray doesn't move once it's in place; the amount of pressure to move it is "just right."Tray curvature: I have a slightly curved desk, and this board fits well in it. I can raise the keyboard to its max height without the desk getting in my way.------------------------------------Some notes for installation:Be good with a drill: You're going to be drilling pilot holes into your desk, and mounting the track using wood screws. The screws are fat and it's a tight fit. If you're not good with power tools, you should get help installing this. I messed up the angle of a couple pilot holes and the screws didn't go in quite right. That's my fault, not a problem with the board...but it took a little longer to install because of that.Ensure your desk is thick enough: Your pilot holes will be drilled 3/4" into the desk. Your desk should be at least an inch thick or you'll disrupt the surface of the desk when your screws are all the way in. This didn't happen to me, but I saw notes about this general issue on other reviews and thought it was worth a mention.Desks with under-hanging lips: Other reviews of other products mentioned issues with desks that have under-hanging lips. If you measure 17" and some of that 17" includes a lip, this won't fit. I have 17 3/4" and it uses up most of that. The part of the plate that's flush measures 17" exactly, but there's a tiny extra bit of space for the end cap.-------------------------------------Some notes about other product listings:Check the details carefully: Before buying an ergonomic tray system from Amazon, look at the product listing carefully and compare the details with details on the manufacturer's site. I found a lot of listings that describe product specifications that are contradictory. The only way you'd know it's contradictory is by looking at the manufacturer's website.A great example of that is a listing I found on Amazon that described a HumanScale tray system where the track was a "2G or 5G" and the board was a "900 or 950." The 2G and 5G are different systems and they differ in length by 2.25". The 900 and 950 boards differ in width by 2.25." You wouldn't know that by the listing, only by going to HumanScale's site.Another example of that is a listing I found that stated the track provided with the banana board was less than 17". WorkRite doesn't sell anything like that, which you'd only know by looking at WorkRite's installation guide (100+ pages).It's definitely the case that the manufacturers web sites aren't all made for consumers buying individual products, but you should read carefully before making your final purchase.Or just buy this product...because it _is_ great! (Just make sure it fits your desk!) I'm a software guy. I've worked in big shops that have awesome boards, and I'm convinced that this tray/board system is one I've used before, and is one of the best you can buy.
