These are my preferred seed starter trays
These are exactly what you expect and exactly what you're paying for: Thin plastic "six-pack" seed starter cells like the ones the seedlings you buy from your local garden center come in.As such, that means they're meant to be disposable and last for just one season -- do NOT think you're getting mini-pots that are meant to last for years -- but with care you can use them a number of times over before they become too beat up to use. These particular cells are preferable to other seed starters due to their size. Deeper cells and wider mouths allow more room for root growth and more room for individual seedlings to stretch out. Other starter trays I've used have been so small, you have to re-pot within just a couple of weeks. With these, you can get a lot of growth before needing to re-pot. In many case, you'll NEVER need to re-pot. You'll be able to get your plants to a good enough size to direct plant from here. These are made of a thin but mildly durable plastic with a single slit on the bottom for drainage. Handle them with care, don't be too rough, and most should come away from your first round of plants ready to be used again. A few might tear, but that's it. I've started all the standards in them: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, etc.Honestly, when you account for price + size, I've found these to be the best starter cells. Just do yourself a favor and ensure you have a tray of some sort to keep them on. Makes transportation easier and gives water drainage somewhere to collect. Also allows you to bottom water once your plants are doing well.Happy gardening!

These cells have room to grow massive root systems!
These trays are a great buy. I like the deep cells to give my transplants plenty of room for roots to grow and get established quick once transplanted. i searched a long time to find a tray with the cell depth I was looking for. The plastic is on the thin side but not to the point of being a negative. I also like the fact they are 4 cells to a tray. I will order more.

THE BEST SIZED tray for tomatoes and other seedlings
After quite a bit of research, I decided to go with these extra large and extra deep starter trays. This year, I planted 11 varieties of tomatoes, 4 varieties of beans and malabar spinach in these trays. However, I germinated the tomato seedlings in pan trays with seed starter mix first and then when they became about 2 inches, I transplanted to these trays and marked each variety with the provided label. Beans and malabar spinach seeds were directly planted in these trays. What I really loved about these trays is that each cell has quite a bit of room for the seedlings for good root development before transplanting to garden or bigger pots. I got really healthy and strong seedlings on every single one. Because of this size, I was also able to delay transplanting as I wished, and I did a little each week, knowing that the seedling will not be too crammed. Some of my tomato seedlings are now more than 6 inches size in these and they are still looking great. The other big advantage is that I dont have to water everyday, since the cells are larger, they hold water longer. This is a big issue if one uses smaller cells, they dry out quick under the sun; the seedlings might perish sometimes in just one day. I have a lot of Topsy Turvy tomato planters, and these cells are just the perfect size to get the seedling root ball in from the bottom. I did not find any other comparable sized product even after a lot of searching. The only reason for my 4 stars is that the trays are made of really flimsy plastic. I wish the plastic was twice as strong. Lifting edges of some of them broke just when I tried to lift while the cells were full. So, now, I lift them very very carefully.

For better plants
I really like these deeper plant cells for starting my flower and vegetable seeds. They have more room for root development before they need to be transplanted, and that means better plants and less work for me.Update: I have used peat pots, Jiffy 7s, deep Jiffy 7s, open trays, cell/tray combinations, etc. and these deep cell starter trays are the best! Next year these will be my choice for almost every one of my plants, and I start between 500 to 600 plants each year. My tomatoes were amazing, and did not have set backs when transplanting was delayed due to heavy rains and cooler weather. And the flowers and other vegetables did equally as well. And the slit in the bottom allows for easy push-up of the seedlings. The best!

Finally found the trays I've been looking for
I hate transplanting seedlings, so I've been trying to find good sized trays to start and finish in. I was looking for ones that were rigid yet flimsy, large enough to carry the flowers until they're ready to plant, and for a fair price. These checked all the boxes.I tried the really rigid clear plastic trays, but it just makes it harder to get the plants out of the cell. After the first time squeezing and prodding, it leaves the plastic all crinkled and beat up anyway. I also thought about trying the silicon ones but they are super pricey. So stick with what works; trays like these that are well balanced.

Holds potting mix but...
It'll hold potting mix for seedlings but I'd hate to have to deal with a lot of them. They are a very thin plastic which is what I expected from the other reviews but to separate them was a pain. The slit on the bottom was hot melted and the remnants from one tray jams up the one below it. I separated them by turning them over and gently squeezing each individual cell once in both directions. Then using a rounded butter knife I worked my way into each slit from the side. Then I was able to remove one tray. This took me an average of 20-30 seconds per tray. Not a biggy if you have 15 to do but a business wouldn't pay for them unless the owners kids had nothing to do...lol. I'm pretty gentle removing my seedlings and I might get 2-3 uses out of them. They aren't as thick as the seedling trays you get your plants from at the nursery, so...just average product.

Great for Seed Starting/Seedlings
these guys are great! I've been using them to grow my herbs and start my vegetables for the summer. Pretty steady, not indestructible, but I'll be able to reuse them for years, which is what I wanted.
