Typical Stanley…
I use this every day to keep my morning coffee hot. For me, that's about 3-4 hours. I've adjusted the amount of fresh-ground coffee and water needed to make a French Press pot of dark-roast sufficient that it exactly fills this insulated bottle. I then pour my first cup… leaving 2 to 2-1/2 additional cups (depending on which cup I select) waiting in the Stanley. So at that point the bottle isn't filled, but no matter—the remaining brew stays acceptably warm. Not scalding hot like coffee just poured from a fresh pot, but hot enough that you can still burn your lip and have to sip carefully at first. I've been a fan of things Stanley for decades…and it's true the heavy-duty bulletproof construction of a generation or two ago has slipped noticeably. A shame, but then how many products are still made with the same commitment to quality as they were years back? As others have mentioned, this one arrived with several bumps and dings. Nothing so bad that I needed to return or replace it, however disappointing. Stanley still makes a pretty good insulated bottle—a better one than most of the competition.

Nice vintage look but dents very easily!
This might look like your grandfather's Stanley thermos with its signature green coating and silver screw off cup ... but it sure isn't built like your grandfather's Stanley thermos! This is made of a very lightweight metal which dents very easy. Maybe a few 'war wounds' will give the thermos some character ... mine arrived dented right out of the package. It must have slid around ... I did an easy replacement order and had a new, undented one the next day.The fact that this dents easily is a pretty far cry from the originals made in the 1940's - the 1980's which were built like tanks! Beyond the questionable durability, this actually performs well. Perhaps not as well as the 15 hours of keeping beverages hot on the label ... but this kept my coffee for 8-9 hours and it was still warm (not hot) after all that time. I'd imagine you could put tomato soup, coffee, hot chocolate or other things you needed kept at a good temperature in here. (Just be careful with milk or fermented foods which should not be contained with a vacuum seal.)Heritage brands are coming back into fashion in a big way. Although these are now made in China as of 2012 when a West-Coast-based venture capital company purchased the Berkshires in Massachusetts-based company. Stanley actually invented the vacuum sealed container over 100 years ago and has been making them ever since. If you appreciate a brand with history that started it all with the thermos, this is the brand! The cup, which screws off from the top, is lined with plastic now vs. the original thermos which contained a solid metal cup. The stopper is plastic and thin metal, so be careful not to bend the threads which would make it difficult to seal. The vacuum seal is incredibly watertight and does a good job of keeping the heat or the cold in.Overall, if you are searching for a cool, vintage looking thermos which keeps beverages relatively hot or cold for periods under 10 hours. this might work great for you. If you are planning to bring this on a lot of road trips, know that the durability and dentability may give you pause. I am glad I ordered it and with a plaid blanket, it will be perfect for chilly mornings on a camping trip.

This keeps my coffee hot all day on 10 hour shifts.
This thermos has been very durable so far, it gets tossed in and out of equipment all day when I have to load my gear in. It keeps my coffee hot all day, it recommends filling it with hot water before you use it for your beverage and this makes all the difference. The small cup that doubles as a cap is such a convenient feature. I knew it would be nice but I didn’t realize how much I would like it. It’s also a very nice size. I feel like the size up would be a little much and the size down would be enough. I work at a limestone mine and spend a majority of my time outside. I had to work in 10-30 degree weather all week and my coffee was still as hot as it would be out of the pot all day, and this was sitting outside not it a heated building or vehicle. If this gets crushed or lost I will buy the same one again hands down.
