Q: I wanna buy a long 20 gallon tank.It measures 30x1/4 long and 12x1/2 deep. The hood on Amazon says 30 and 12 which means my tank is a 1/4 inch too long and a 1/2 inch too wide. My question is would the hood fit or is it exactly 30x12 and not big enough? Thanks for any help!!

I have 2 20G aquariums. 1 20G tall (24" x 12") and 1 20G long (30" x 12"). The tall aquarium I bought as a kit and it came with a Marineland hood. The light in the hood works great. It lights up the aquarium really well and I have lots of live plants that are thriving in that aquarium. So, when it came time to set up my long aquarium, I decided to go with another Marineland hood and purchased this one. I was quite disappointed to find that they use the same light bar for both the 24" and 30" hoods. This does not work well at all for the long aquarium. The sides and corners are not well lit enough. I do have some live plants in this aquarium, but I have to keep them toward the center of the aquarium. I wouldn't recommend this hood if you need/want a lot of light in your aquarium.

Q: will it fit a 55 gallon tank?

The 24x12 fits my 20 gallon tank, just measure the top of your tank and go by that.

Q: my tanks is 20" x 10.5" will this fit that or is my tank dims too large?

My tank is 20.25" x 10.5", this did not fit my 10 gallon.

Q: Is there a spot when an internal filter cord can feed through?

There are two spots in the back, one is big enough for a hang on filter, the other for the heater or other cords.
