It Works Great - So Far.
I needed a serious home office shredder. My last shredder only did 16 sheets at a time and after several runs, had to rest for a day or two for the motor to cool down. This left piles of "to be shredded" papers laying around because I could never get them all shredded at one time. When it stopped working I started looking for a shredder that would do serious shredding! The Dahle ShredMatic caught my eye because it said it can hold and automatically shred up to 300 8.5 X11 sheets of paper at a time. It will also shred up to 14 sheets max at a time in the slot for all the uneven papers that need shredding. Plus it shreds credit cards, CDs, DVDs, etc. There were many positive reviews on Amazon. So even though it was a bit pricey, I really wanted to get and keep my sensitive information papers shredded. I bought it. It arrived on time. It was packaged well enough for a HEAVY electronic item. I cut open the sides of the box to remove it properly. The directions are in multiple languages so you need to review the pictures carefully to understand how to use it correctly. I'm used to using shredders so it was not a problem for me. I shredded about 1150 papers in 2 hours. Most were 8.5 x11 that I put in the 300 page paper tray but there were also many of various sizes and some credit cards. It jammed a few times because I folded some 8.5 x 14 papers down to 8.5 x 11 size (to use in the 300 page try) and the shredder roller "unfolded" them and then jammed. The jam removed easily and I put the odd sized papers down the regular shred slot and kept going. It also jammed a few times when I had too thick of a stack in the regular slot. Again, the jam was easy to remove and separate into thinner stacks. It allows you to move the rolling blades backwards or forwards to remove jams. All of this is typical for a shredder and everything was easily taken care of (and was due to my errors not a fault of the product). The ShredMatic was fast and efficient! I have a LOT more papers to shred so that's why I said it works great so far. I'm hoping it will last me many years. But just in case. . . I took out the Amazon extended warranty. :) It is an attractive piece of office equipment. It looks nice sitting in my office, and the wheels allow me to move it around easily. I'm happy with my purchase.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT
Frankly, it’s too early for me to give an accurate review of the “Dahle ShredMATIC SM 300,” since I’ve only used this product for two weeks. However, thus far, I am impressed! Though this shredder is pricey, it seems quite sturdy, skillfully constructed, easy to use, and outperforms all other shredders I’ve used in the past. Its elegant design and color are very appealing. The P-4 Security Cross Cut is better than I expected, and the 300 Sheet feature is not only useful but has performed flawlessly for me. I also like the fact that the shredder has a small footprint, which is convenient. There is a reasonable expectation of durability and long-term use for this shredder. I will provide an updated review, if needed, after I’ve used the product for a longer period of time.

Fantastic! Had doubts but really helped a good size shredding project.
Went through several cheaper shredders and had one where motor overheated so much it melted some of the teeth. Almost gave up on this project and ordered Dahal as a long shot.I was surprised and can’t say how much better this unit was. It worked like you would hope and occasion jams were simple to clear.Close to 50 bags with each bag holding 2 bins full of shredding and it still keeps going. Very satisfied and impressed with this unit. Happy with purchase.Don’t waste your money on the cheaper versions unless you have really light shredding. Any business or moderate to heavy shredding project should use this unit or better unit if there is one.

You get what you pay for
This unit was one the most expensive units I tried. It is rated P-4 but unless you’re working for the CIA who needs a P-5 level shredding?. The shredded material from this unit is really tiny. The problem is that the P-5 level shredders are really slow. It takes a long time to grind paper down that small so if you don’t need that level of security there are much faster machines like this one that can also handle shredding thicker manual documents. Here are my observations. This machine is lightening fast and corrects for a design flaw typical of the other types of top load shredders. In the other machines—There is a design flaw in the other “set it and forget it” machines. Those shredders are in the middle of the platform meaning the machine sucks in the document and shreds it; so whatever the size of the document it’s doubled when it goes through the shredder. This machine pulls from the bottom of the page. This machine handles stapled documents much better. Still You must sort the documents so the staples are at the top of the page for the machine to work without jamming. It works on fairly thick documents with multiple staples. Good news it’s much better with the autocorrect reversing and trying to correct any jams—it works well. Also there is a large capacity bin and the shredder keeps on shredding until the bin is full. Many of the other machines fell short of full—some stopped at half full—this one is much better than other shredders I’ve used. Finally it was better with thick documents that are manually fed. No need to worry about shredding those credit card invitations that come in the mail with the fake card. This machine shredded the entire mailing. All in all 300 pages but 300 throughly shredded pages with no drama. Really fast…but better costs money. At $600 this delivers a superior product! You have to decide if the aggravation caused by removing staples on the less expensive shredders is worth the trade off.

Cross cut shedder necessity
This is the shredder to use to destroy patient files after the 10 year mark. Now that we don’t need paper anymore, this thing is a necessity.
