different challenges which get harder in a stepwise fashion
I bought this little book to spice up my 3 years old son's vacation. I have had it for a week now and both my son and 18 months old daughter have so far enjoyed the book. It is a board book with high quality glossy card board pages (every page), which makes it possible for little children to enjoy it themselves without damaging it. The colors and the pictures are vibrant and attractive. Each pair of pages focus on one challenge. It starts with big-small (match the big animal with the smaller one of the same kind) on a plain background. Then the same question comes in their natural environment which is a little more complicated due to distracting other creatures in the background. Other challenges included are matching the mother and baby animal, matching the color with the fruit, matching the shape with the road sign, and matching the skin pattern with the animal each starting with plain background and getting more difficult with the real environment on the following page.A child needs to be able to know shapes, colors, patterns, the big-small difference and mother-baby difference to be able to complete all the tasks in the book. Final page is like a quiz where the little one needs to answer one challenge from each group on the same picture.A three years old child can go through most of the tasks easily and learn some stuff while having good fun. Even my 18 months old daughter could find a couple of tasks to her taste and enjoyed being congratulated. I recommend this book as a fun way of revising several concepts and I think 2-4 years old children would benefit most from this book while others (including my self at 31)can still find it enjoyable too.

Had to have this one
We borrowed this book from the library and my son loved it so much, we would read it everyday, renewed as much as possible and then checked it out again. Finally I found it on amazon and bought it. It is a great book that allows a lot of interaction with your child.

A great little book!
This is a great little book to help kids learn. Our granddaughter just turned 5, and has had this for quite awhile. Just the other day, we pulled it out and went through it again and she still loves it.

Recommended
My child is 10 months old, and she loves this book. The illustrations are great and the colors bright. so it easily catches the attention of my daughter. I would recommend this book to everybody who has little kids.

Great for kids!
I donated this book as well as others put out by National Geographic to our church nursery as there didn't seem to be any books of this quality available for the toddlers! I was very impressed with it!

Cover is misleading
Why is there a picture of a panda bear and a squirrel on the cover when neither animal is featured in the book? Other than that, it is an okay book.

Books
I buy books that are older than my Granddaughter because I have been reading to her since she was 3 months old, They may or may not be able to retain what we teach at that age but it does not hurt to challenge them.

Terrible, terrible
Terrible, terrible, terrible. There are only 9 pictures of animals (3 sea creatures, 3 wild animals and 3 farm animals) that are repeated throughout the book in awful computer generated scenes. There are also pictures of fruit and wasted pages of shapes. This book is such a disappointment.
