Excellent. Period.
The BK2 is not a fine cutting instrument, so don’t go there looking for that. This is a heavy, thick, sharp beast of a tool that you can use to pry, baton, chop, cut and penetrate. Ka-Bar knows exactly what they have built here.Scrap the handles and put a good set of scales on the knife. If you want to, remove the black, powdered coating. Get a better sheath. If I needed to extract someone from a vehicle, this is the tool I would want. Pop the glass and clear it, cut the seatbelt, and pull them out. That’s what I think of this blade. This is not a bushcraft knife. I have many lighter, more appropriately fashioned knives for that.Durability? I think you could punch through a cinder block wall with the BK2, and then get working on other heavy projects.

Survival knife
This is a 1 lb hunk of metal with a semi-comfortable plastic grip that is capable of cutting, chopping, hammering, smashing, and batoning. This is a practical knife that will handle a beating. Its size and weight may not make it suitable for an everyday carry... for weaklings. Needs a solid 15 minutes sharpening to get the cutting edge, but it holds. I would trust my life with this.

A heavyweight beast of a survival knife.
My first impression is the weight. It's thick and feels solid in your hand. Like it's meant for heavy field use. Decent pommel. Sharp out of the box. I didn't give it five stars because of the sheath retention. It's a really tight fit. There is thumb jimping on the sheath that helps a bit with drawing it. Some people have suggested a bit of lube. I really don't see it loosening over time. And so I wouldn't advise deploying it as a fighting knife. Jimping on the blade would be nice. The retaining strap is a bit weak. But the knife is very secure in the sheath. This is a superb survival knife, a bit heavy for bushcraft. But you could manage. Not so good for EDC. I wouldn't wear it on your hip on an expedition. I recommend packing it in your ruck. There is an aftermarket sheath with MOLLE. You could use it as a small chopping tool if need be. The plastic scales are kind of cheap. If you're going to invest the $100 in this knife, go ahead and spring for the micarta scales. Don't forget the cool guy paracord lanyard. Overall I am very pleased with this addition to my collection. After all, how can you go wrong with a Ka-Bar?Update: I installed the aftermarket Micarta scales and added a small cool guy paracord lanyard. I decided not to go with an aftermarket sheath. Personally, I'm just not to into MOLLE.

King Daddy Survival Knife!
Wow! Finally someone has developed a knife that originates around long lasting strength and purpose. This is not a run of the mill beefed up kitchen knife. Almost every survival knife I have owned I have questioned how well it would last especially when doing the most heavy duty work. This is a heavy knife! It's not so much meant for fine peeling but with a little practice could be used for this purpose. It's thickness makes it obvious it is meant to be treated as it looks. It's balance is good. I wonder if the blade might be a little longer but I am satisfied for now. I can guarantee you that when I have choose but one knife to rely on it will be this one. The best engineered and built survival knife that unlike most other survival knives is not a gimmick . It's the real deal. I will buy at least one more for my wife.

Dependable tool
Very sturdy tool;but don't expect a delicate cutting knife. No need to worry abou tool breakage can handle tough jobs, like chopping off branches from a bush or 2 inch limbs off a tree.

Monster of a bushcraft knife in a small package
Well built knife. Needs different scales that are a little pricey. Sheath and drop belt loop attachment are spot on one of the best I've seen. Sharp out of the box and we'll worth the money for the tank of the bushcraft knife world
