Yes I believe it will. The casing is quite hardy and completely enclosed when zipped. I would personally use it in a storage unit. I know own 3.

Q: Does it keep from picking up odors? Like musty basement smells?

The mattress we have stored is in the garage, where gas smells and other odors might permeate, but have not. It is fully encased in the plastic, so in our experience it protects the mattress from odors. Hope this helps.

Q: Does the zipper go all the way around?

The zipper is a full enclosure once the bag folds in half.

The mattress is very well made and has the handles which makes it easy to carry. Not sure about storing in unclimate controlled environment; I would "google" proper storing for a mattress.
