After reading the other reviews, i was hesitant about ordering these quilts. The pictures looked nice but a lot of reviewers commented about the smell. I decided to give them a shot since Amazon provided Free Returns for this item. Im sure glad I did. Since they were on sale, I got them for less than a cheap quilt.Kantha:I assumed Kantha was a type of stitch but I went ahead and googled it, just to be sure. This is where I learned that Kantha quilts are made from recycled saris. It seems some reviewers were buying based on the pics and not description because one reviewer said the quilts looked used. Of course they will look somewhat used if they are being recycled or as some call it "upcycled". But let me assure you that, although the colors were a bit muted, my quilts did not look like hand-me downs. The fabric did not have any holes or fuzzies all over them like used clothes do. Im sure the seller chooses only the best used saris they can find. So, just be sure you know what you are buying before writing your review.Smell:Let's address this one, as well, since it was one of the major concerns of most reviewers. To be honest, the way other reviewers were describing the smell, I assumed these quilts were going to smell like a mixture of the sari owner's scent. Again, let me assure you that they DO NOT smell like I assumed. I was pleasantly surprised that the only scent I could get off of them was more of a chemical one. It was definitely not strong or extremely unpleasant like others describe. Could the seller have made adjustments from the time the others wrote their reviews to the time I got my quilts? Possibly! Maybe they listened the the complaints and adjusted the smell. Who knows? All i know is that, in the past, I have purchased foam mattresses with a stronger chemical smell than this. A smell that needed to be aired out. These quilts do have a scent but its not a very strong one. Not enough to THINK it wouldn't wear off in the wash. Of course, I wash EVERY fabric that comes into my house before I use it, anyways. So, the scent COULD possibly bother you if you're the type of person that wants to use the items right out of the package. Otherwise, please dont let the other reviews, about scent, deter you from buying these quilts. I am definitely keeping mine. They are in my laundry room waiting to be washed.Stitch:Let's also talk about the stitch. Can you see some of the hand-sewn stitching pop up? Yes! You can see what Im referring to, in my pics. Does it lead me to believe that they will unravel easily? No! The stitching feels tight and strong. Of course, there has to be an end to the stitch. Could they do a better job of hiding the end? Probably, but it doesn't look bad the way it currently is. In my opinion, it adds to the charm that these are HAND-stitched. For this being a hand-stitched quilt i would say they did a pretty darn good job. I did see some of the sari ends showing through (i.e. unraveling ends of the sari). But, like i said, the stitching is tight and strong so im not worried about these actually becoming unraveled. They just look like the ends of the fabric that got overlooked when getting cut.I havent washed these so i haven't gotten a chance to put them up against a twin mattress. But i got these specifically for my kiddos to use during summer. They needed something lightweight to keep them warm but not hot. I am hoping these work for that. By the touch of the fabric, i do believe they will work. They also look to be the right size for a twin bed. Once we start using them i will know for sure.Overall, i am more than satisfied with my purchase; especially because i got these on sale and they are of good quality. I would definitely buy these again and will consider getting more as gifts. I think they would look cute as throw blankets on a sofa. Would recommend you get your own to find out.

So pleased👍🤗Ordered a 5 pack & a 2 pack.ALL great colors, well sewn & no damage or patches.I am obsessed with Kantha quilts & have many.These have very little odor compared to some sellers.I find that the larger the order the more compressed & the more smell.These have very little smell & it washes right out.I always wash mine twice...once on warm, once on cold.. then dried on extra low.They came out soft, bright & fluffy & smelling of clean cotton. So nice.You just have to bury your face in them! (I did😉)These are going to be Xmas gifts.Such great Kantha's, I just ordered another 2 pack to keep for myself.These are so comfy. My pets love them too.I enjoy the weightless & soft feel of them.So easy to wash unlike heavier blankets.These keep me warm unless it's quite cold.These Kantha quilts put a smile on my face just looking at them. I want to start by saying these are shipped from India. In the US it took roughly 1 month to receive. For the price, this is a steal! The shipping to and from India is insane.My boyfriend was amused by an American having these at home. He said the patterns were reminiscent of his childhood, and the cotton the type that would be basic everyday wear. He told me back home they reuse saris for everything from farm fencing to cleaning rags. This is just another way to reduce. These are about the length of 1/2 sari, or a twin bed.They are a mix-matched set of saris, double sided, and hand-stitched. The colors somewhat go together. I appreciate the 100% cotton and softness. I used them to cover twin beds and my couch. I also sewed two together to make a queen sized blanket. I just placed a second order so I can sew up some curtains and have a picnic blanket.They're a great use of material that add a vibrant color. TO WASH: set your washer to HOT and soak for one hour. I did this with detergent and a cup of vinegar. complete the cycle and repeat once more without the vinegar. When drying- place outside for best results. Over some chairs, a railing, or even a tree branch.These travel a long ways. Expect to clean them. Expect to dislike a color in there and love another.

These lightweight kantha blankets arrived folded nicely and tightly sealed in their packaging. The colors and patterns are BEAUTIFUL. They smelled good, are amazingly soft, and bigger than I thought they would be. I washed them on a cool handwash cycle and gentle air dried them and they came out perfect.I can see why people become addicted to ordering these. Each one is a homemade gift with an endearing quality. I purchased them for my yoga studio, but will now purchase some for home. They make me smile

I bought these for 2 beds for my house in Mexico, because the colors are so vibrant and they are thin, perfect for the warm and humid weather. I washed them because they did have a smell, but the only issue is that these are NOT 55 x 85. They were smaller, like 50 x 78, so hopefully I can get them to fulfil their purpose.

I purchased two of these to put on my couch because I have cats and dogs wowxthe are so beautiful they ended up on my bed!!!! They are twin size and I have purched two more I am going sew two together for my king size bed. I am thinking of Christmas gifts also everyone I have shown them to have said they lovecthem

Wow these quilts are lovely, bright beautiful colors.. I don’t smell any unpleasant odors..they are lightweight..I intend to use them as throws, table cloths or picnic blankets..very happy with purchase!

Great product. I love them but with no choice of colors; I've received the same dark red, Christmas green and dark orange blankets. The site shows beautiful bright green, blues and yellows but mine are always dark and dreary. Do better on switching things up.
