This isn't really a question. You can use it while sleeping. It works for some people. It doesn't for others. I don't mind wearing it while I sleep. It stabilizes my neck.

Q: Is it washable? How to clean it?

The instruction label says cold wash, line dry only, do not dry clean and do not iron, although I've not tried it yet. Hope this helps.

It varies, it's 3.5" on the sides,the front has a dip where your chin rests thats 3" and it tapers off in the rear to 2.5"

Probably NOT!!! It has a cloth covering over a rigid foam insert. My guess is that once it got wet, it would create other unwanted health problems. You might want to talk with the patient's doctor & discuss how they are supposed to shower. After my wreck I was supposed to wear it 2/47 but was allowed to remove for my shower. If they really can't take it off to shower then they probably should be receiving sponge baths. So, talk to the doc about the best neck brace for the person & then go from there.
