Madur was the most comfortable warm and hygienic anywhere anytime bed in our childhood, in a village not so far from Kolkata. Just unroll it on the floor, or sit on it and read, have your books, glasses, phones and other handy tibbits, or, have tea, or chat in a small group sitting on it, or play cards, or sleep ( u need a pillow ) or do your pranayam or aasanas. This is the bed, or mat, or carpet or bedsheet, whatever- no other pieces are required. When done, roll it and leave it standing in a corner . It does not occupy space. If water spills on it, just leave it hanging on the clothesline. A no maintenance ,and no washing piece, retains its colour and polish that the makers put, for years on. If u dust with a dry cloth, a small dry duster ot jharoo, or pour water and soap , rub , dryin shade or sun - no problem. A nature's gift - woven from split sticks of the humble little Madur tree, by splitting and washing, weaving, polishing, printing small patterns or lines on the sides - is warm, skin- friendly. .At longer sides of the mat , the ' kathi's are woven into one another, and knotted. Some put cloth borders along these to smoothen the touch there and protect the knots. This healthy and comfortable item is uncommon these days of plastics and chemicals . A particular piece can be wider ( longer sticks) , longer ( more stick-lines woven), thin or thick ( how thick or thin strips they cut out of a 'Madur kathi' for weaving ( mix of self-weave and with cotton thread)The particular product I got had thick weaving of moderately broad sticks, had tight weaving, and decent polish and finish. Adequately thick for a warm touch when spread on a cold floor. Material and Quality are good. Looks good, of decent colour and finish. Looks exactly as advertised. I am quite happy with this. Has been a value for my money, considering that that covers its delivery to distant Pune ,Maharashtra from some village of Bengal.

There are so many out there that I was confused, ordered another brand and was disappointed, but one was perfect in terms of the weave, size, the neat edges!! Excellent quality. Just go for it
