M5 304 Stainless Steel Turnbuckle Kit - 165FT（50M） Vinyl-Coated Wire Rope for Outdoor Lights Hanging, Garden Tension & DIY Projects

We got this to put guy wires (yes it's GUY wires, not GUIDE) on our over 10' halloween decorations. It was easy to work with and saved us during the storm. Have only had it up for a few weeks so will see how it holds up over time.

The media could not be loaded.  'M5' refers to the size of the screws. '304 Stainless Steel' is the most common stainless steel. The steel contains both chromium and nickel metals as the main non-iron constituents. It is an austenitic stainless steel, so it is almost totally non-magnetic.My main reason for getting this wire was to put up a temporary barrier along an open section of my yard where I (someday) expect to once again have an actual fence. At this time, occasional visitors think it's OK to drive into the yard from a road that runs along my property line. It's not. The wire, draped with 'Caution' flags, should dissuade drivers from entering that way.The video shows the simple connections used to run the wire, with turnbuckles for tensioning, and a T-post about midway between the two ends, to prevent excessive sagging. One of the videos in the advertising shows a lot of (in my opinion) overkill by using as much hardware as possible. Of all the goodies supplied it the kit, I think the most useful, besides the turnbuckles, are the double rope clamps. They secure the wire very firmly. The Anti-wear thimbles are good, if there is slack in the line, but with a tight rope, they seem unnecessary.I echo another reviewer's opinion that the drywall anchors are pretty much useless - not at all suitable for the tension applied to this wire.My only negative is very slight. I would like the plastic hub to have a notch or hole or some sort of way to keep the remaining wire from unravelling. I'm using a rubber band, but adding a hole or two in the hub would be easy.

Received everything I was supposed to and the quality is as expected. Its nice to have this universal kit to adjust and cut to the size you need. Have used this to square the gate to my fence as well as hanging some string lights on the patio.

It is difficult to write a decent review on a product like this. But it really boils down to, does it do what it is intended. The answer is, resoundingly, “Yes.” It comes with all the parts you would need to make use of the 165’ of wire—which, as a major plus, is not coated in grease. Overall, this kit comes with everything you need to make use of the wire.I will say, I don’t understand the reason for including the yellow plastic expansion plugs. They will not hold against a horizontal load. So unless you are hanging pictures, or something similar, these are of little use. BUT if you are hanging pictures, you will have LOTS of very nice stainless wire to do so!Pro: Stainless and plastic-coated wire make using the wire easy and will not leave your fingers with irritating metal shards imbedded in them. The stainless turnbuckles, snap hooks, rope clamps, rope thimbles will make whatever installation you do, last for years. The aluminum crimping sleeves work very well for most applications.Con: None that I can find.My Take: I will use this.Info: I try to provide an honest review of every item I receive. I don’t have a use for many of the products I have reviewed (you really think I needed four 6” chainsaws!). I simply want to provide a service to those considering purchasing the products I review.

I originally ordered this kit to string up some lights on the back porch however, I came up with another solution that I liked better and was a lot less work. That doesn't mean I won't use it. I'm going to string some lights under the carport and use sensors to automatically turn on the lights. But I digress. The reason this is possible is because I saw the quality of the kit when it arrived, even comparing it to a cable system I used to put up some wind flaps I designed for the back porch, I think the metal is as good or superior to the turnbuckles and hardware I bought at Home Depot. Every thing possibly needed is in the kit except better metal screws. Other than that preference, I am excited to get started on the project later this spring or early summer. If I find a problem, I'll up date the review.

This is a great kit for working with stainless cable. It gives you plenty of options for a wide variety of applications. The stainless aspect also helps to keep rust at bay whether you are building a fence, deck, or decorative fixture. If you are handy with these types of tools it will serve you well. If you, like myself, don't work with cable like this everyday, there are plenty of online instruction videos that you should find helpful.Large set for a fair price and I would recommend.
