Purchased to use as sunglasses
There are mostly pros and one minor con.I got these to use as sunglasses, mainly when driving. I'm very rough on sunglasses, so they don't tend to last very long in my hands. However, these UVEX safety glasses are well built and can take a some abuse. The build quality is very high. I like the design and think they look good. The tinting is a nice neutral density smoke with just a touch of brown coloring in the lens. The light passing through is nicely filtered and a pleasant color. From the outside there is a slight mirror effect with a purplish hue reflected from the lens.I tested the light transmission using a spectral transmission meter with LED sources. Here are the transmission rates (percentages of each light range passing through to your eyes):UV light (365nm peak): 0% (the lenses block all of this wavelength)IR light (940nm peak): 42% transmissionVisible light (380nm-760nm): 15% +/- 2%Note that there is a range on the visible. Dead center where you look out about 13% of visible light gets through to your eyes. However there is a bit of a gradient to the sides (not top to bottom). Out at the sides about 17% of visible light passes through the lens. I believe the injection molded lens is a bit thinner out to the sides, and this accounts for the very slight reduction in filtering.Additionally they are very comfortable to wear, light and easy to put on and take off.For the cons, there really is only one. When folded they do not fit in my car's overhead sunglasses compartment, they don't fold flat enough to fit in there. That's my only complaint.Bottom line, if you need sunglasses that can take a bit of abuse and are low cost, these might meet your needs.

Not a improvement on the Uvex Genesis
I love the Uvex S3205X Genesis Safety Glasses and have bought many over the years. This new Uvex Avatar line looks to be an improvement because of the Anti-Scratch Coating. However there are two negatives with the new design:1. The the temples no longer curved down over the ears . The straight temple design is less secure and allows unwanted movement if the wearer is sweating or is jostled. Maybe straighter is "cool" but I don't buy it.2. The temples have holes to attach a hang cord but the Uvex S505D Black Safety Hang Cord does not fit. A Hang cord that securely SNAPS in place is an essential requirement for my needs.Boo Hoo
