Worked as intended
It arrived with a few bent spots. Didn’t affect the use but metal is a little thinner than I thought it would be. Handled two birds at a time. As others remarked the drain spout does need to be a little longer as the water and feathers get caught up in motor area. We managed to block it.

Worth having
Did the job w low power output / easy to use out in the field w extension cord. Proper scalding definitely is necessary, but a few pin feathers by tail never fully came out so anticipate doing a little clean up work. Overall worth having especially if you can share/rent it out to friends. Complaint would be that it’s way too expensive.

Design Problems/Instructions Terrible.
Well... . We used it.... It does work as it states.... But, for the price point, here are some things to consider This model is in every farm book, homestead mag, etc, and it is made to sound/look like it is the Cadillac of chicken pluckers. Out of the box, one side had a dent... Ok, we will live with it... But, let's dive in, shall we...The instructions and pictures are terrible. What is this, 1950? We figured it out, but come on man, this is the 21st century, put some big colored images in the manual and label items. One part of the instructions called for grease for the shaft. Ok, so supply some or tell us it is not included... Luckily, we had some food-grade grease. Heck, it just said grease, so could we have used WD40? Good grief.... On to the next design flaw... It leaks like the Titanic where the magnet sits... Turn the water on and whoosh, out comes the water from the feather hole (good), and out comes the water where the magnet sits, bad. What a terrible design, as the motor is literally on that side. Water and electricity don't mix at all and this will be how this thing goes bad... How on earth is this rated so high and blogged about endlessly? Here's the extra fun part... Try inserting the extra finger into the hole is almost impossible. It is short and way too big for the hole. We had to use dawn soap to get it through the hole with vice grips being our MacGyver! The rubber shaved off the side, it was so tight, but hey, why would expect anything less at this point? Question... Why wasn't this just assembled already? Why all these extra stupid steps that could be included in the same size box? (Some genius in the front office, I assume).... I cannot believe this is the model that makes it to the assembly line. No way, any engineer allows this to go for final design and clearance... All of this, and we still haven't put one bird through it. Updated review after chickens are used. I have no hope... I assume a chicken will be caught within this Titanic and will go down with a blaze of glory.... (If you buy this, buy the warranty, because there is no way in Hades this is going to make it a year)... This entire machine needs a re-design and some engineering tweaks. Iceberg, straight ahead...

Excellent product!
I have been hesitant to spend money on something that I can technically do for free by hand. What a mistake that was. This machine does exactly what it is supposed to. We used it this weekend and it saved us about 5-10 minutes per chicken. Plus it does a better job than I can do by hand. I would recommend this product to anyone that processes chickens.

Great buy!
According to my husband this Yardbird chicken plucker is the cats meow. Once you learn how to get the temperature of the water right for dipping chickens and drop into the plucker it works great! Very few feathers left to remove and all skin is still attached to the chicken. The only negative thing is the box arrived damaged and there were a few dings on the plucker itself.

This is great!
This plucker worked like a champ. We were able to butcher the birds in such a short time, worth every penny. Build real well too. Arrived with not dents or dings. If you are debating getting this, do it, it's great!

Caution with Shipping
I have used a yardbird in the past and was super happy with it. Due to the logistics of my own personal birds and the yardbird I was using, I decided to finally buy my own. It gets the work done and does it well, HOWEVER>>>> The individual's yardbird I would use, they received theirs in pristine condition. The one I got, the box was damaged and the bottom was hanging by a thread of tape. Once I looked at the drum of the machine, I found it to be dented, dirty, and dinged up. The box itself has seen better days. This box looks like it was sitting outside for months, then dried out, sat in a dust storm, then sent to me. ALSO pieces of the items are actually broken off. As well as, no instructions on how to set it up are in the box I received. This is bad on Amazon and this seller. I am very unhappy with this, and have also not received any help what so ever from Amazon NOR the company of YARDBIRD. Absolutely uncalled for. YES i could send it back, I may very well need to, however, this is not much of an option as I live in a RURAL location and there is no UPS pickup spot. So....what do I do? Not much, and I am out a lot of money I worked hard for. My recommendation....DO NOT BUY. Just go with a different company.
