Does the job.
I bought this set to make my own entry doors. Before I tackled the entry door and side light, I used the bits to make some interior doors to build up some skills. I've just finished making a bathroom and a closet doors. So far, I have to say I am very happy with the set. Reconfiguring it for 1 3/8 was very easy. Removing the top of the rail bit to make longer tenon was also easy. I used a mortise machine, this thing comes very handy for this type of job. I should warn first time users to prepare the woods no less than 1 3/8 (I will add 1/16 for my next interior door.). I used a Freud 3 1/4 HP router, I made the rails in one pass (stub tenon), and the stiles in two passes. Looking forward to making more doors with this set.

Useful but time consuming
Overall its a useful set but dont plan on building a houseful of oak doors for yourself like the instructional video. As for the bits themselves, they come in a nice case, but could use some basic information like the profile dimensions and a diagram of the stack setup of bearings, washers, and cutters. I did find that the cove cutter has a pretty violent wobble to it, and its good with any of these types of bits to start out at a low speed and increase it until you find the right rpms, which you can feel and hear. One thing that is confusing is that the ovolo profile is 7/16" wide, not 1/2" wide like the stub tenon, so even though the formular for determining rail widths given on Freuds website are correct for the overall size, you will end up with a flat rail or stile that is slightly wider than you may be aiming for. In my past experience making cabinet doors, a 2-3/4 rail with a 1/2" ovolo yields a 2-1/4" flat that is standard among most typical cabinets. Freud should also clearly show the tenon/dado thickness left by the router. It seems that the ovolo plus fillet is a total of 9/16" deep, leaving a 5/8" dado for a panel on a 1-3/4" door.I mainly got this bit for making extended tenons-- the way to make a real door. As with any shaper/router table operations, the key is to have complete control of the workpiece, using featherboards, miter gauge, clamps, coping sled, power feeder, etc. It will take far too much time to get your rail setup making multiple passes for every rail to make the extended tenon, and it will wear out the lower cove cutter much faster than the upper cutter. Instead, cut the bulk of the tenon out with whatever method you favor (hand saw, table saw, etc) and then use the router to cut the final cove pass. Freud really should demonstrate this on their video if they want people to be successful using their bit, rather than just hyping their own product.

Snapped in Half
Not happy with the durability of the bits. Made the first door just fine, bit broke in half on the second door.It broke at the joint you take apart to make the extended tendons. Wonderful feature but the joint doesn,t seem strong enough.

Great bits and excellent service
I'm a carpenter by trade. Not only are these buts very good, but I've discovered that Freud customer service is too. It comes with a DVD. When my DVD didn't work, I contacted Freud and they ripped a copy of the DVD and sent it to me electronically so I could watch it.

Cuts well - but one bearing failed before the first job was over.
I made a set of 1.375 and 1.75 doors - 30 in total. That was a big job - but only one job. One of the bearings failed early into the job. Was able to complete the job using the fence to hold it a tiny bit off the bearing. Dissapointed.

Buyer beware.
Over the last few years I've purchased 2 of these sets (different patterns). The first one did a wonderful job until on the 3rd use one of the bits sent one of its carbide edges into the wall behind me (thankfully missing me in the process). Freud customer service is great in theory; even though they were over a year old, they took them back and sent me a replacement set - eventually. "Due to the pandemic", it took about 7 months to get them. My other set came with one bit out of balance. Trying to use it had my router roaring and the router table walking across the room. Again taken right back without question. That was back in 3/21; as of now (12/21) I'm still waiting for the replacement. So when they work, they perform very well, and the price is reasonable. And the customer service people are great, but ...
