Why didn't I buy one years ago...still going strong over year of hard work later.
I wish I'd known how bloomin good these are ... years ago I had a Nimh de-wilt one that was frankly poop...it put me off battery impact wrenches for a long while.since then I've always use air impact wrenches. ....Man things have come along way.. ..this is so portable and coupled with a BL1830 battery I can work on cars for many many hours before it runs down. it makes changing exhausts and dropping fuel tanks ...well any job that means a lot of fasteners ... so much easier ....why o why didn't I get one years ago... .no more air line trailing all over the floor meaning less trip hazards . ..ok so there will always be a use for big heavy duty air wrenches but for 99% automotive work this impact wrench is great .Its also uses the LXT batteries so I can share batteries with my drills .If you already have some Makita LXT gear no matter if you are professional or hobbyist you'll not regret going battery powered with an impact wrench like this.Just thought I'd Update this review ...I've had this for over a year now and its had more than its share of hot suppers ..I can't even begin to think of how many thousands of nuts and bolts this has removed and tightened or the hundreds of man hours of ratchet work its saved .I've found myself using this a lot with my smaller BL1815 batteries which means you can get the unit into tighter spaces .Best thing I've bought for under £60 for the workshop in years. Now I see reviews moaning about that it only has 190 nm of torque and that this is not enough to break off large rusted bolts.Well no it wont it's not a Pneumatic gun so getting 400+nm of torque isn't going to happen and the fact that it has limited much torque means you don't break bolts / studs ....and in reality you should be using a breaker bar to crack wheel bolts/nuts and a torque wrench to finish tightening them.Using air guns to crack wheel nuts/ bolts or tighten them is why I see so many cars with knackered or cross threaded wheel studs and bolts. This is the perfect tool for 99% of garage jobs. And its proved to be very robust as well....mine is so covered in grease you cant see the makita colours and its slid across the floor under cars so many times it's all beaten up but it still works perfectly. It's paid for itself hundreds of times over .....why didn't get one years ago.So much so I'm getting another as a spare as I dread to think of working without it now.

Just BUY it
If you're into fixing your cars yourself because you want to save money, or just enjoy the job, BUY THIS.It makes jobs so much easier having another solution to get off tough bolts from a car that doesn't knacker you out.You can take a wheel off in seconds really, and even tough on bolts this thing can breeze through. You want to pre-soak your bolts and nuts that are well rusted with WD40, but the impact nature of this wrench will smack that bolt off. It's also great for using on spring compressors too, as you need the torque to get the spring down.Exhausts, wishbones, shock replacements, this thing can handle it.I didn't buy an original Makita battery for this, as I thought they were extremely expensive for what they were. I bought another type of battery off Amazon and an original Makita charger, and they all fit very snuggly. Battery life is excellent too. Just remember to buy yourself a good set of Impact Wrench sockets, as a cheap set will have a poor fit, and smash your bolts round. This also has a nice slow turn with a light trigger press, allowing you to get a bolt on its threads easily which is good, and the LED functions well. It really delivers on its torque too, as if you can tighten it up to the maximum it can go, it can undo this torque too.

Ok
This is a great buy if you only want to remove light stuff. It wouldn’t take my car wheel nuts off. But remember this. YOU ONLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. It’s more than worth £58 but unfortunately taking the nuts off my wheels was the main reason I purchased this. I’ve now purchased the DTW1002Z at a much higher cost of £241. But like I’ve said if you only want it for light bolts this is the one for you don’t waste your money on an expensive one.

Good enough
I bought this gun to replace my draper gun, I used it to break a car for parts so yes I’ve tested it on engine mounts, subframe bolts and gearbox bolts and wheel nuts etc. The gun definitely without a doubt will save you a lot of manual screwing defenitely happy with the gun but if ur looking a gun that will take off wheel nuts without a breaker bar or take off engine mounts without a quick slacken of a breaker bar then this is not the gun for you. For the money definitely worth it but just lacks that extra bit of power when u could do with it. Definitely a Brilliant gun for the money but will require a quick slacken of a bar for heavier bolts

It does what you expect, and has the Makita quality you expect
Bought for occasional home use, rather thana s a professional work tool, so did not see any need to buy the heavier duty option, the fact that it takes the same 4AH battery that my SDS Drill, Impact Driver and Combi Drill all use, means I can buy the bare unit and do not need to waste additional funds on getting a battery, case and additional charger that are not neededI may invest in a case to keep it safe but for now it lives happily in my tool chest in its cardboard packaging

First dip into one for car use
Price dropped low enough to take a punt on one for battery use as have compressor ones but not always ideal to turn on.Overall impressed, it won't undo a wheel nut that's been done up with a professional garage one break a bolt that's rusted on but it will help take the time out of the work one you've done the brute work which is what my use is for.
