A stunning film
The original Disney version from way back when is one of my favourite 'old school' animated films before the industry went all digital and 'Pixar'. Not that I don't love the new technology. Some modern classics like Finding Nemo have been produced and in my book this new live action Jungle Book is up there with them. You really cannot see the joins. It's like Disney have taken the jungle from Avatar and added talking animals. They talk naturalistically too. There are no awkward jaw movements. It just seems so natural. The voice actors are perfectly cast, especially Bill Murray as Baloo and Christopher Walken as a somewhat chilling King Louie. A noticed a quick reference to Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now at one point!I must admit I had a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat a lot of the time. The film has a nobility about it. Maybe it's the references to the original classic or the score? Whatever I was sobbing at the end credits! Not bad for a 57 year old guy to be doing! It's an awesome remake. Buy it, watch it, love it.

Strength of the wolf is the pack
Visually stunning and very well acted. The CGI of this version of Jungle Book is very well done and scarily realistic. There is only a whim of the iconic songs, but it's enough and perhaps a good thing. The storyline is somewhat different at some points than the Disney animated classic but apparently closer to the original. All in all a very enjoyable movie, with a remarkably clear story. Excellent choice of entertainment for a family movie-night. And perhaps the most notable thing.. it lacks the almost obligatory Disney princess! Will be hard to convince the kids that a.) red underpants aren't that common and b.) animals don't speak in real life.We buy 3D Blu Ray’s where possible. You pay up for it but they enhance a great family-film evening. Jungle Book in 3D looks very sharp and natural on our fairly high-end Oled LG TV, that gets supported by proper surround sound. I must say I tend to like 3D viewing more at home than in cinema’s these days. And this movie in 3D is particularly well-done; all looks very pleasant and natural to watch without excessive blast and parts flying towards your face.

the acting is very good, especially Neel Sethi as Mowgli
Superb in every way. when I heard that Disney was attempting a 'live action' (that's a difficult description because apart from a few humans NOTHING is real) I thought there would be no way they could achieve anything other than irritation and annoyance but I was 100% wrong. This is a magnificent production, the acting is very good, especially Neel Sethi as Mowgli, who is accomplished for an adult actor let alone a person of his age.The CGI is stunning and almost impossible to spot, the 3D is effective, the story is compelling and interesting and the characterisation is solid. This is not a remake of Disney's animated film (yes I know that technically this is animated too), it's another version of the book. There ARE links to the original because of the songs, mostly they integrate with ease, but that's really it.Oh, and there's an amazingly gutsy reference to another classic film in this ... it made me laugh and I'm in awe that they thought they would get away with it but they DID!

Region 1,2,3 at least the copy I revived was.
Region 1,2,3 at least the copy I revived was. I live in the U.S, but I couldn't get the 3D version here. I have a region free player, but I was surprised to see I didn't need it. The disks are marked with reagion1,2,3 logo. Both the 2D and 3D played fine in my oppo player. Fun film, my kids liked it.

Simply jaw dropping 3d
This is probably the best in the current Disney run of "live action" movies, and probably the best CGI you will ever see. The story is pretty much faithful to the original, with a few less songs, although the best ones are kept. The graphics in this movie are absolutely astounding, and you could be forgiven for thinking that the animals were real if they were not talking/dancing etc. The three main animals Baloo, Shere Khan and King Louis absolutely steal the show. Bill Murray is hilarious, Idris Elba is terrifying, and Christopher Walken was an inspired choice to play Louis. The 3d on this movie is absolutely amazing, and probably the best of any 3d movie I have watched. The image has a huge amount of depth, and you really feel that you could reach in to it. I could happily watch this again and again.

Entrancing from start to finish
A very worthy follow up to the Disney original cartoon. Sensible retaining just enough from the original to add a nice touch of nostalgia for us old enough to remember it. Christopher Walken and Bill Murry are not singers but used their skills as actors to fill any gaps in the singing department. If they keep at it they may well pull it off as proper Jazz singers because you could see their confidence grow in the bonus material. The young boy who plays Mougli deserves a an oscar
