EHEIM Professionel 4+ External Filter 250

Replaced a Fluval 106 on 90litre tropical tank, which developed algae problem recently after 2 years of use. First one was sent back to Amazon, as it arrived with a cracked handle. As usual, Amazon handled the case very well, sending me a replacement following day!Found it slightly quieter than Fluval 106, maintenance is easier and feels much studier build. Most of all, the water quality is better now with no sign of the algae after 4 months of use. The included spray bar needed bit of DIY as this does not allowed rotation of the head to suit my tank. I would also recommend use of Eheim pre-filter as this helps to prolong the filter maintenance better than the advertised 'Xtender' function with this model (I have yet to find use of this).I wish Eheim included slightly longer hose as I found this was very tight fitting in my setting and might be an issue to some. Overall, I am very satisfied with this one and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a decent external filter.

Easy to maintain, silent in operation, good strong water flow

Seems like a good bit of kit. Although it can be quite fiddly getting the trays the correct way round.Also, when cleaning. I would advise you tip the water out of the filter as when I removed the top compartment all of the black tubes floated up took a while to round them all up.The instructions are pictorial and as such I find them somewhat difficult to understand. There are a few written in structions but these are minimal. Saying this there are more than enough video guides online (Pond Guru, although quite critical is very informative). The filter itself is near silent which is bliss. Now just that pesky air pump to silence now!Another thing to note is that if your tank, like mine (Juwel Rio) has rear entries for cables, it is extremely difficult to install the spray bar. You may need to buy a 16mm 90 elbow or cut a longer section of hose.Apart from those little gripes it seem like a solid unit that will last the test of time. My first purchase of an Eheim product would have given 5 stars if it wasn't as fiddly to put back together.Update: One year on I’ve doubled the size of my tanks hand this filter has kept up great and is still working flawlessly.

Very impressed! Once you know how to setup an Eheim Filter, it is very easy to repeat.Filter comes with all filter media and accessories. I especially like the new color for all the tubing/pipes which Eheim switched from their green to black, which does look much better. (I own a Prof 3 2076, as well)The priming is easy, if you know how to: Leave the outtake OUT of the water and hit the priming button a couple of times, plug in the filter and voila. (No pre-filling / sucking the tubing etc necessary!) A must have for clean and clear water!!

Excellent upgrade, a lot better than my previous Eheim filter. Love the new colour pipe. Easy to set up although did watch u tube video before hand. Comes with filter media and pipe. Arrived next day excellent service, highly recommend filter, very quiet.
