Worked perfect for our needs
At work we had a requirement to display the output from our DVR system on a monitor located across the building and down one floor. Rather than run BNC cabling from our IT closet down to the monitor, we chose to utilize Ethernet cable already in place and use two Cables To Go 41151 BNC Male to RJ45 Female Video Balun (Black) connectors in conjunction with this Sewell BNC to VGA adapter at the far end to accomplish our task. The video from our DVR unit transmitted flawlessly over the 500 feet it needed to go and setup was extremely easy. We've been using this adapter for around 4 months without issue.

Solid piece if equipment
Our old security monitor died and it was pricey to replace it with a like piece so I opted for this and to use and existing LCD monitor. The install and config was painless and immedately functional, the video quality was as good as could be expected and there is no noticable lag or artifacting. My only issues are;1. Would like to have had better documentation on the capabilities of the unit before purchase (on line manual)2. A lock button/switch so the buttons on front cannot be accidently pressed.

works a treat
As advertised. Seems to be the cheapest of the things that actually work.. and it does in fact work. Can't actually improve image resolution, but does the next best thing, sends the high(er? est?) density signal that the monitor can handle. If there's a nit to be picked, it's the power and input signal being on cables.. I guess they couldn't cram them into the box.. and.. they didn't have any.. other.. boxes.. so.. fine, whatever. And the input signal cable doesn't seem to be coaxial, or not very thick anyway, could be an issue for some deployments.. it's NOT an amplifier.Would Buy Again (esp. for $39.99).

Serves its purpose.
Does not work with Swann security camera. Plugged it in and routed it to a Sharp HDTV and got a bad signal in all resolutions and formats. I contacted customer service and purchased a different security camera at their suggestion. Works well enough -- resolution is a little dicey on the relay (certainly not HD). I'm happy with it, but it could be better.

Black and white only
works fine if you just want black and white. I thought it was just the one I purchased so I got another and it was also black and white. The ad pics show color screenshots and of course nowhere in the specs does it say black and white or color.

Image is *slightly* blurry but low-res gaming i.e. PS2 works just dandy.
Note that BNC input is interchangeable with composite video (phono plug). I didn't realize this was BNC ( i know, it's in the title of the product) , anyway I cut off the BNC jack and soldered in a female phono plug. Presto. You could also buy a female phono to male BNC adapter for 5 bucks. If you need to go from composite to VGA like me, this product has you covered. (unlike those flat-out deceptive comp-to-vga adapters that are for sale. Even if they can physically plug together, they still can't communicate the video signals)It does get warm (not quite "hot") but I haven't used long enough to know if this will cause problems. I've used this for less than 20 hours. The quality is as good as I expected, not crystal clear but for purposes of occasionally hooking up a PS2, i am glad to be able to toss out my old CRT television. I could see this product being useful for at least a decade in systems where there is a mix of old and new video protocols.
