Sony HiMD 1GB Mini Disc

So much easier than driving over to Macc to the sony shop, the disc arrived quickly and was soon put to use. Ironically I then realised that, having shopped worldwide on Amazon, the seller was actually based in my home town less than a mile from where I live. What are the chances of that?

These discs are great - apart from the price, and the overlarge size of the plastic cassette. These latter are more like the box for a cassette tape than for a Mini Disc - please Sony go back to the standard protective box size. These might be fine for archivists but the main thing I like about my Mini Disc walkman is its compact size - these boxes are the wrong 'form factor'!

Yes I still use minidiscs and this size is excellent for listening to whilst gardening . Perhaps a little dear but then such is life .

The new 1GB discs are fantastic for storage of both audio and data. Up to 45 hours of music on high compression! Thats nearly my whole CD collection on two little discs! However you could get many standard 80 minute mini discs for the same price as one Hi MD so the price will have to come way down for it to be worthwhile. I'm going to stick to the standard mini discs for the moment which can be formatted to suit Hi-MD recorders and can hold just over 250 MB. Great product.... NASTY PRICE!!!

When you can get them to work they are amazing but there are simple rules you must follow so as to not infuriate the darned sonicstage software or it will not let you use put more music on the disc and will make you wipe it blank, destroying all the effort you put into copying the tracks onto it.never ever:edit track names or anything for that matter on the minidisc player itselflet media player 9 synchronize your music when it detects your player
