This is an excellent product that is well made and in the two ...
This is an excellent product that is well made and in the two months that I have had it connected the TP-Link Archer D2 AC750 has performed well. Out the box, the set up was fairly straight forward. As advertised it provides the option for dual band and supports all 802 protocols a,b,g,n,and ac. The latter (ac) giving the 5Ghz wireless bandwidth. Being a 'Dual' band device means that it supports 2.4Ghz also. The set up also allows the users to provide three wireless access points, the third is to allow the users to provide a 'Guest' network with limited access to the rest of your home network. Therefore you may set up three available network access points for your home network. For example 'Fred 5Ghz', 'Fred 2.4Ghz' and 'Fred Guest' each with their own unique password. Prior to the purchase of this router I was using an ISP provided router that was causing problems refusing on regular occasions access to andriod devices until the router went through a power on/off cycle. No such problems have occurred since using this router. In addition there are four Ethernet connecting ports and one USB port. The USB port enables the connection of a standard USB connected printer to be used as a network printer when attached directly to the router. There is some additional software to download that must be installed on your PC prior to firing up this feature. My ISP provides a fairly low speed connection which my old router did not seem to fully utilise resulting in a fairly mediocre connection speed. Using this router most of the time I get a better line speed and due to the fact that the router can cope with a combined 750Mbps throughput using more than one wireless device simultaneously there is no detrimental fall in performance. The advertised 'Beam Forming' must work as I have noticed that wireless devices used in areas of our home that had a low signal strength have seen consistently higher signal strengths. There are many more features available too that I do not need, or understand all. All that I would say is the most important features of signal strength, reliability and security work better than my previous ISP supplied model. I have installed one firmware update nervously since I purchased the router following the instructions carefully, and it worked fine. I noted one reviewer commented on the positioning of the status lights, saying they were not in their face. Being on the top surface, they are not very clear in the position where I have sited the router. I do not mind seeing the lights twinkling, it lets you know that things are working as intended. However the reliability and signal quality experienced so far is great, therefore I rarely watch them as before it does exactly what I want it to do reliably, a thoroughly recommended product.

Does the job
Its a lot simpler to configue than a Ciso, but provides a little (lot?) less configuration capability. It worked fine on my FTTP link, and before that it was good on ADSL2+, so its a reasonable choice for a domestic router.

Fantastic router that does everything it says (once you update the firmware)
Bought to replace router provided by ISP. I was using an old G-rated Trendnet router I bought many years ago that worked very well, but was getting outdated. My ISP had offered to upgrade me to a new state of the art router. Sounded great, but the router they supplied never worked properly and kept dropping wireless or internet. I complained and they sent me an alternative that did very much the same. I therefore went back to the Trendnet, but eventually decided to purchase my own upgraded router. This router seemed like it has a good mix of features at a reasonable price. Key elements are dual band 2.4 and 5GHz with the new AC standard too, ADSL/cable dual functionality, IPv6-proof, USB port for printer or NAS. It has other features too, but I am not going to list everything. The range was also stated to be good. Out of the box, it worked well on the 2.4 GHz frequency, but I could not get my ipad to connect to it on 5GHz. Nothing I did worked and I was rather disappointed with that. However, I then realised that it appeared to have a very old firmware version. I updated that to the most recent and this changed everything. The admin web pages were completely different and so much better, plus the ipad connected no problem at all on 5GHz using AC networking. Hence, I recommend checking the firmware and updating if it looks old (you can tell the age of the firmware because the date forms part of the rather long firmware filename). I have also used the USB NAS/DLNA feature and this works perfectly although write speeds to the NAS are rather slow. This could be down to the USB pen drive I am using. The router also does give good range and it covers the whole house no problems. Very solid wireless and internet too. I have not had any connection issues or needed to restart it at all to recover from wireless or internet drop out (in comparison to the vastly inferior router provided FOC by the ISP). Worth every penny to resolve the issues I was having with the "free" ISP routers

Impressed so far.
After unpacking, plugging it in and updating the firmware, the features of this router, such as the auto-setup are great. It has replaced my HomeHub 4 and provides faster connectivity all round. The Wifi, Ethernet and Internet speeds have all improved. The cables included are;- 1 x Micro filter (small 'splitter' type without cable - ADSL (RJ11) and phone connector (BS6312) socket)- 1 x Ethernet cable (looks to be a crossover)- 2 x RJ11 -> RJ11The admin area has three main options- Auto Setup - Allows you to run through the automatic setup which covers Broadband and Wifi setups.- Basic - Shows a network map and standard config options, like enabling and disabling Wifi, etc- Advanced - Allows you to configure pretty much any setting for Broadband, Wifi and both internal and external networks, including port forwarding, virtual LANs, firewall, etc.The USB share feature is relatively easy to use, and unlike the Netgear router I tried (D3600 - only allows the admin user access, a major security issue), you're able to set up user access for different users for different folders. Setting up the external access (via FTP) was a breeze too. Also, unlike the Netgear, it allows you to assign fixed IP addresses to IPs outside the DHCP range which allows you to group your fixed IPs in a numbering convention of your choice. It has wall mounting options and is quite small compared to the HomeHub 4, although it lays flat rather than stood up.I've given it 4 stars so far as it is very nice to use, but may update in the future, most likely to add another star.
