You can buy cheaper socket testers, but none as reliable as these and therefore pretty useless if you cannot rely on the results. I have had one of these for years and used it often in connection with my work and it has never let me down. Very easy to read results - the lights and tone clearly indicate any fault. The units are well made and mine is still in good condition despite rocking around in the back of my truck! Bought this second one for use in a motorhome to check electric hook ups at a glance.

I HAVE USED THIS " SOK34 SOCKET AND LOOP TESTER" UNIT FOR 5 MONTHS AND FOUND IT A PIECE OF 1ST CLASS EQUIPMENT.IT IS VERY ROBUST IN CONSTRUCTION. THE FACT THAT IT TESTS ITSELF, BEFORE ACTUALLY STARTING TO TEST IS REASSURING.ALSO THE FACT THAT IF THE "LOOP TESTER" GIVES A " GOOD" REPORT THEN THE EARTH HAS AN IMPEDANCE OF LESS THAN 1.87 OHMS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TESTER

If you need a tester
Bought this after my cheaper tester kept giving wrong results and became very unreliable. This tester is great for the price and does all you need it too. Plus it is pretty sturdy so will last and survive being in tool bag or van. Well worth the money

This faulty socketandsee wasted my time during testing
The item gives a false fault, it indicates there is a fault with the Neutral, when there isn't. I removed the socket and checked the connections in the consumer and visually all looked ok. So i tried another two plug in testers, no fault with the neutral. I plugged this in to a circuit my friend had already tested to be ok, however this tester indicated there was a fault with the neutral. This faulty socketandsee wasted my time during testing.I would of liked a full refund however there was no means of contacting the supplier or returning this item. I have an older socketandsee tester and that works perfectly well so its not the make perhaps a faulty batch.
