Exceptional
Just pretty much reprofiled an old kitchen knife with a 600 grit fine stone!! These stones are very very effective. Normally you'd need a 120 or 240. Ive been hand sharpening for a couple of years now with wetstones so am pretty experienced. This stone is exceptional and ideal for beginners. A 600 grit stone is normally a third stone before a 1000 and then 4000/6000 polish. However this 600 is way more effective than a 600 grit wetstone so the results are immediate and significant. All I can say is that they work a lot quicker than wetstones so take it easy with new or already sharp knives. Burr creation is profound so very easy to tell when youve apexed. Even old difficult to sharpen knives wont last two minutes with this thing, so glad I found it. I follow a guy on youtube who taught me how to sharpen, look him up. His youtube profile is OUTDOORS55. His name is Alex. He got me into DMT stones and gives great tutorials on every day sharpening using cost effective stones. No need for Japanese chosera stones at £200, get one of these american imports, sharpen from a fine stone and then strop to shaving sharpness!

Super high quality
Great high quality stone that will take the chisel edge to the next level compared to a 1000 grit trend stone.I haven’t used water stones, as I prefer the fact that diamond doesn’t need levelled.I’m happy with how this stone cuts and how the blades perform. I’ll usually strop after it, but it isn’t required. It’s not cheap, but it is GOOD! And you’ll only cry once.

Hassle free in every way!
The first one I recieved had a tiny imperfection (a bump in the casting) but Amazon returns are so easy I got a replacement within a couple of days. The plate itself is great and cuts really nicely. I used to use nothing but water stones but having to flatten them all the time becomes a real pain. These dimaond stones are worth the investment and I'll be replacing my last two water stones once I have more funds.

Not up to DMT's usual standards
I already have DMT Coarse and Extra Coarse 'stones' - purchased around 8 and 4 years ago. They are both excellent in every way, and still reliable! But this is not the same. The metal surface on the 'business side' of this stone has several score marks running across it. My other stones' surfaces are pristine, with no score marks. You'd think even more care would be taken with an 'Extra Fine' surface! And although it is marked and sold as Extra Fine, it is actually rougher than my Coarse slab. There are no instructions to say it needs wearing in: I used my other stones from day one, without any additional prep.Disappointing quality, considering DMT's usual standards.

Good solid diamond stone, fast shaping or flatten your japanese water stones
Good solid diamond stone that took a lot of abuse flattening sets of Narex chisels and new plane blades properly so I could keep them sharp on finer stones. Cuts nice and fast and keeps doing it, also great for flattening out your finer grit water stones with.

NOT flat, fast and uneven wear.
Received the wrong size stone, but needed it that night so had to settle with what I was given.Product came with multiple small pits and lips on the edge. Gave it a go anyways and ALL the items I tried to flatten started off like the one pictured because of a previously unseen valley in the stone. It’s not the largest hollow I’ve seen, but for the price of the stone I expected better.Update: I am planning to re-order a stone that has the quality this one advertised. Until then, I was trying again to see if I was wrong. I had two very clear wear patters emerge (shown in another picture).Second day I tried to give it a shot, and it’s had 2 different uneven wear patters. Absolute trash.I’m disgusted, this became less reliable than the cheap starter set of whetstones, and at a WAY higher price. May as well save the money, buy a stone that is more affordable with the same quality. Likely go the route of Rob Cosman, little higher cost but a reputation that might still be worth something.
