Works like a P85
It’s the ubiquitous P85. I was prepping a Ludwig student snare drum kit & during head replacement noticed the old one was broken. Wish it arrived more quickly, but swapped it, sold it, & in my rear view!

Workhorse
I picked this up to replaced an old strainer with a black logo. This is a perfect fit, and works as well as the old one.

A upgrade from the 1970s !!!

Amazing quality . Perfect !! Just like the original that needed replaced. Because of stripped screws.

Pure garbage
I bought this to replace the nearly identical snare strainer on my 1970s Ludwig Supraphonic. The old strainer still works, it just doesn't operate smoothly. However, this new snare strainer is junk. It's thin and flimsy, doesn't hold the tension, and is easily broken. My main issue is one which has been widely reported: the bolt that holds the lever arm to the tension screw pops out. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I looked into the issue. There is a small bolt that is supposed to merely snap in place. No end cap, no screw, nothing to keep the bolt from just popping out. Workhorse, my ass. More like horse-****. I'm so angry about this piece of junk. Thankfully it didn't happen on a gig.Oh, also it only has a pathetic 1-year warranty. Useless.

... replace the original strainer on my 1974 Supraphonic snare-so glad to see the design has not changed
Bought to replace the original strainer on my 1974 Supraphonic snare-so glad to see the design has not changed, with the exception of one or two small refinements that make the strainer even more functional and easy to use. Bravo, Ludwig!

My 3rd one on this Supraphonic
The second P85 was difficult to operate from the start. Eventually the little connecting plate broke (4 years?) Ludwig should sell that plate separately as it is totally replaceable. Anyway, the new one has much smoother operation, so far. The controversy continues ...
