Love these little guys
I started looking into the benefits of kefir after suffering a heart attack in February 2021 and looking at my diet. Having tried (and liking cherry milk kefir), I wanted something that was easy to make at home and didn't contain lots of calories. I came across water kefir and decided to try these grains (based on the reviews). They came sealed in a plastic packet (with a bit of sugar water) and the instructions were easy to follow - having read lots of different 'recipes' on the interweb, these instructions appeared to go against the others but I followed them to the letter and was soon enjoying the refreshing taste of kefir. They have now been going strong for almost two months and I have needed to split them once so far - they don't multiply quickly but that suits me fine. I just adjust the amount of sugar after weighing them (every week or so). Mine are kept in the kitchen which isn't a warm room, but they are wrapped in a tea towel and left to ferment for 72 hours. This might change as the weather gets hotter but it is working well so far and I am now producing 2 litres every 3 days. What worked for me at the start:1.5l Kilner jar (remove rubber seal)750ml tap water (boiled and left to cool overnight)3 table spoons of 'standard' white refined sugar1 table spoon of light brown 'cane' sugar1 organic prunePut a piece of cheese cloth over the neck of the Kilner and close lidWrap jar in a tea towel and leave to ferment for 72 hoursRemove the prune and strain kefir into another Kilner jar (with a rubber seal) for the second fermentLeave for 48-72 hours, 'burping the jar' every 12 hours or so.I gradually increased the amount of water to 1l and increase the amount of sugar depending on the weight of the grains. Once they had doubled, I split them and now make two batches, mixing them at the end of the first ferment.Every 3 batches, I use one organic fig instead of a prune. At some point I might experiment with different flavours but at the moment I don't bother adding any other fruit for the second ferment as I love the 'natural' prune/fig taste. After starting this process, I no longer drink fruit juice or cordial but enjoy a glass of water kefir every day (my bowels and cholesterol have never been better lol). I still occasionally buy a milk kefir but I really do "love these little guys ..."*** Update ***These guys are still going strong 2.5 years later! They survived not being fed for two weeks (not recommended) when we moved house and coped well living in the fridge (and not fed) when we were away for a week recently. Hardy little guys! They have only increased twice since I started but that's fine for me. I have a good routine set up that seems to work really well for them (and me). I am now making 4l, in two batches, every 2 days (setting a reminder in my phone in case I forget). I am now only making fig kefir (as we prefer the taste) but have tried oranges, apples and rowan berries for different flavours. I still mix the two batches at the end of the first ferment but no longer boil the water and leave to cool. This is mainly because a couple of times I forgot to prepare it the evening before and the grains don't seem to mind. Whether they are mature enough to handle any "nasties" or whether we just have cleaner water here I can't say. For reference, my sugar/water ratio is now 4 tablespoons of the standard white refined sugar, and 1 tablespoon of light brown cane sugar, to 2 litres of cold tap water. Apart from mixing the sugar directly into cold tap water, the rest of the process is the same as when I started. I can't comment on the health benefits, but I regularly drink up to 2 litre a day (and I'm still here). I no longer drink milk kefir at all and reach for this whenever I need a cool drink. These grains have been really good value and show no sign of slowing down. If you are looking to start your own water kefir, I highly recommend this brand of kefir grain from this company. As I said in my earlier review, "I really love these little guys"!

Fantastic bubbly drinks in no time
Very easy to make your own water kefir. Follow the written instructions and you cant go wrong. I love to do the F2 with raspberries. It reminds me of my childhood for some reason. Be warned, that the second fermentation stage happens fast. It only takes 2 days for mine to reach our preferred level of carbonation. Open your bottle with caution, preferably over the sink with something over the top of it. My first experience opening my F2 brew was rather messy. That being said, go forth and brew this gem of a drink.

Sickly lacking grains and curt customer service
Sickly grains which did not weigh 20g (actually about half the weight). I diligently fermented according to instructions they came with. The grains are small, fragile, break up easily and have barely multipled over multiple batches. Their carbonation is also mild even in second fermentations in air tight bottles. I've fed the grains (molasses, egg shells, lemon, baking soda) to try and perk them up and they still are sickly. After I exhausting all options to get these grains going I contacted customer service. They ignored everything I put in my email about everything I tried, and in very curt terms told me to "do research". Considering the amount of research I'd already obviously done and the fact I already ferment other products on a regular basis this was an insult. I wasn't asking for kefir recipes but advice on why their grains specifically weren't working.AVOID!!! - The sellers aren't willing to accept responsibility for dodgy grains or help in rectifying the situation Moreover there are sellers on other sites that sell double the amount of grains for 25% cheaper prices. These sellers are expensive and it's not worth the risk with their customer service.

No thanks waste of time and money
What a palava to Make this crap full of this and that do this and that. And then excuses the first couple of times may not be great no explanation or how will I know if it's right or wrong i'v not had it before also what you do in between each try or how many times you use them to get it right. just buy the kifir milk and water from marks less hassle I thought you just put water in and waited, if they can't tell you when it will be right how are we supposed to know if you never tasted it before the only thing pure about this is pure rip off.
