The Vosteed Raccoon is hands down one of the best EDC knives I’ve used. Right out of the box, the Sandvik 14C28N steel blade is razor-sharp and holds an edge exceptionally well. After weeks of everyday use—opening packages, cutting rope, and even some light whittling—the edge retention has been outstanding, only requiring minor touch-ups with a strop.The G10 handle is lightweight yet grippy, making it super comfortable for extended use. The crossbar lock is smooth, reliable, and ambidextrous, which is a huge plus. The pocket clip is well-designed and keeps the knife secure without being too tight.Maintenance Tips:• Honing & Sharpening: While the 14C28N steel holds an edge well, occasional honing with a ceramic rod and stropping keeps it razor-sharp. If needed, a fine-grit whetstone will restore the edge effortlessly.• Cleaning: Regularly wipe down the blade with a dry or slightly oiled cloth to prevent moisture buildup.• Lubrication: A tiny drop of oil on the pivot ensures smooth action.• Storage: Keep it dry and away from excessive humidity to prevent corrosion (though 14C28N has great rust resistance).Final Verdict:For the price, the Vosteed Raccoon punches well above its weight class. This iteration of the Raccoon is my favorite. It's just about the perfect size and weight. It locks up solidly with the cross bar lock, which is user adjustable for desired action. It's also stronger than a button lock. Build quality is top notch. Ergos are great.14C28N steel is decent budget steel that is relatively tough with decent edge holding. It's easy to sharpen. The micarta is excellent and provides nice grip. Handle edges are nicely radiused. Overall, nothing to complain about. Probably my pick for knife of the year under $100. And well under $100 at that. Well- made, light, and sharp as necessary. Nice finish, and I am fidgeting with it regularly....and great value at the price point

Great blade shape, great scales, quality sharp blade steel, smooth action, great price, what more could you want out of a knife?

This is a fantastic knife. I’ve held off on a review for a few weeks now to see how it held up. First impressions, the grip is lightweight and comfy, the blade is a perfect size and comes razor sharp. There’s a little blade play but nothing notable. The button lock feels great. Not obtrusive in the hand and when closing it, there is very little to no bounce, unlike some other brands I’ve encountered. The button lock is very intentional in the sense that it is nearly impossible to accidentally disengage it on accident or in a pocket. After having used it pretty heavily, the blade remains razor sharp, the action is buttery smooth and I am having no regrets with this purchase. I hadn’t heard of Vosteed until recently but man I am excited to get another and have been recommending my friends like crazy to get a hold of a Raccoon. Just hoping that the thunderbird gets back in stock so I can give one a whirl

I have other knives that cost me more. Including benchmade. This is by far the nicest knife that I own. The quality of the build is outstanding. Came in a beautiful package. It is built with durable materials, and looks great. The cutting geometry is perfect for an EDC. The ceramic bearings make the action smooth. The lock is a little stiff when it comes to fidgeting. I'll see if it loosens up when the springs are broken in with a few more thousand opens, but in my opinion the stiff springs make it a little safer. I Obtained a hair whittling edge on the factory sharp within 5 min on a 1.5 micron strop, and the edge is maintaining due to high quality steel hardened properly. I can't say I can see the point in paying a penny more to another brand unless it was because I thought their knife looked cool. I love this knife. Vosteed hit the bullseye with this one. Bravo!

Comparing with my Kizer drop Bear(s), there is a distinct commonality in quality and smoothness to both the action and feel. If I could choose between the two, I would purchase them both:). Love the nitro V drop bear, the more expensive 154cm Kizer drop bear and this knife that is just as good as the more expensive micarta 154cm DB. Great Job Vosteed! Market leader in my opinion. If I lost it or it got damaged, I would purchase another one immediately.

No, it's not one of my expensive Benchmades, but it's a pretty decent knife. I got it because I travel for work and used to take a Benchmade with me on work trips, but losing one in travel would be an expensive loss. So, I decided on this Vosteed for the role of travel knife, but it eventually became a great edc knife since its nicely made and very sturdy, but light too. This thing arrived razor sharp and holds a good edge, even under constant use. When I sharpen it with my Lansky knife sharpener, it comes out super sharp, sharp enough to give the Benchmade a run for their money edgewise. The jimping is my only real complaint as its sort of an after thought, but not a concern to me since it's not a big deal and doesn't affect my view of this knife. The design is good and well balanced. It looks good and feels good in the hand when in use.
