Mexican Classic Oster Galaxie Blender Made in Mexico Osterizer (White)

I am 68 and have had many blenders. I own a very efficient and powerful Vitamix that I use every day for my smoothies and some hard to puree creations. This 5 cup oster I use to prep my savory bases like sofrito, chopping onions and peppers etc. Of course it is delicate and you must remember that its not meant to be a professional blender. I often skip the vitamix and use the oster for my smooties. I take care of it. I cut up my frozen fruit and do not over load. It works great. I don’t mind that there may be some small fruit bits. If I want ultra smooth, I use the vitamix ( which by the way I HATE to wash). I do not use the cheap ( sorry) plastic jar. I ordered a square glass jar. Its perfect and small for one person. Love this blender. I smile when I look at it because when I was first married 43 years ago, All I had was a harvest gold osterizer and a set of revere ware that came with bowls. I am still in awe at how many things I cooked with only those two things. Must have been good because my husband did not even want his moms food anymore. She taught ME. Anyway ( rambling on) this is a great little machine. I love it but yes folks - younhave to treat it like a baby. Don’t be too rough tightening the blade on, don’t overload, don’t use with wet dripping hands, it will sit where it wants. Just move it around till it falls into place then give the jar a slight left turn to make sure the blade it screwed on right. Hold the handle when using high speeds. The jar can turn itself and loosen the blade. Remove the blade every few uses and wash everything with a toothbrush and hot soapy water. Blade are SHARP. Let air dry in your dish drainer. Wipe away any water from the bottom before you place it on the base to use. Don’t run it like a marathon vitamix. You will burn it out. Buy extra blade covers. They may crack eventually. It is plastic people. Most important. The gasket goes OVER the blade to form a seal against the jar.

This is a good value if you don’t want to sink a lot of money into a premium blender.

Replaced the old one

Nice and quiet than the previous model is preferred glass containers rather than plastic.

My only issue I have with this is that it comes with a plastic jug, so I order the glass one which made my costs more, but I got what I wanted.

I gave this product 3 stars because the original and replacement came stained—2 blenders. It’s also not a cheap blender, so not sure why they aren’t inspecting before packaging. The box was intact so my guess is that it was packaged that way.

Ok, I admit that I had my old blender for about 30 years and things have changed. The photo looks just like my old blender so I ordered this one. For starters, the bowl is plastic. I know that it must have said this somewhere but I missed it. So I was disappointed from the start. The power is not what my old blender was. I most likely should not rate this product since I have not had a new blender for 30 years. They just don't make them like they used to I guess. It did the job I needed it for so I kept it. Ok product.
