Brilliant piece of kit
A really excellent little piece of equipment. Delivery was very quick. Simple to install. Truly "plug and play". I use it to operate my You View Box, Amazon Fire TV and Blue Ray Player from the single ethernet port on a WiFi extender. So far it has worked seamlessly.

Compact, works, no problem
I use this switch as a central hub to connect TV, Set-top box, PC and PS3 via a cable from the main router, so currently only using 5 of the 8 ports but as it was on offer and cheaper than the 5 port version it seemed to make sense. Although I have it largely out of sight it is surpisingly compact and quite smart looking. It also not only has wall mounting capabability but two screws and plugs are supplied - I have wall mounted mine but ended up using my own screws and plugs as a used a slightly larger drill bit than necessary and so the original plugs came out. I can't comment on reliability but so far there have been no issues in performance and it is very literally plug and play - no setp required. The power connection is USB so it would be an option with the correct lead to replace the supplied power supply and use a usb socket if there is one nearby. It is only 100mb (not GB) switch which is fine for my needs (my internet runs about 70Mbs). All in all, for a simple switch I would recommend it - if it turns out to be unreliable in the longer term I will try and remember to update my review !Update June 2020, still going strong, never had to touch it really, just fit and forget.

Works just as it should
I needed a way to connect some cctv cameras to the one ethernet port I had spare on my router, this worked perfectly for this, it just plugs in away you go

Fast Delivery, solved the issue
Delivered quickly, solved the issues we were having with our previous switch. Long enough power lead so as not to get pulled with other leads. Very good value for money.

latency issues when trying to game
This doesn't seem to work for me. I connected this up and linked 1 cable to my xbox. All I got was latency issues. Tried it without the switch and it worked perfectly fine. I've done tests on the cables and they work without issues.

Excellent piece of kit and extremely good value for the money. Its D-Link so what else would you expect.

Make sure you're ordering the right one!
After spending a week troubleshooting drivers on my laptop; I've come to realise that the black version of the switch is the DES-1008D and it's 10/100Mbps. Why did it take me this long to realise? Well I searched for gigabit switches. Stupid of me really to trust the search wasn't it?The correct switch is white, and the model is DGS-1008D. Maybe this will save someone the humiliation and wasted time 😠. Why do they still even sell 100Mbps switches?
