Overall, this is for the most part, an upgrade from my Better Homes and Gardens (Walmart) glass wax warmer which uses an incandescent bulb. On the upside, it uses LEDs which are much less likely to burn out, and an electric heating element which is more efficient and not dependent on the light bulb burning out. My Walmart one's bulb lasted roughly 8 years and when I replaced it with wax warmer bulbs also bought from Walmart, they worked but did not heat adequately.I like the variety of designs but the glass Walmart design was certainly classier. However this feels modern and the differences in tech make it worth it. Having a silicone tray is also helpful as the coated metal one I had before would burn and coating flaked off.The only thing I don't like about this is I wish the light could be specifically set rather than always rotate through the RGB spectrum.

First, this took about a month to arrive so keep that in mind if considering for a gift. Second, it doesn’t really come with instructions, so I don’t know how or if you can replace the bulb. Unless there’s a trick, it doesn’t appear to me that the top or bottom come off so I think when the bulb burns out that’s it. Third, to switch between colors you have to turn it off and on which works but is a pretty clunky method. I couldn’t make it cycle between the colors but maybe I just didn’t keep it on each color long enough to find the one that cycles. It is very pretty and it did melt the wax fairly quickly but the wax doesn’t really simmer, so it didn’t seem to release the scent as much as others that get the wax hotter, the amount of wax I put in was the same when I shut it off a few hours later, so the silicone dish was nice to pour it back in the mold.

The lights are a great asset whether you leave them in changing mode or a solid color. The biggest problem is that the fragrance isn’t very strong. It seems like the silicone insert somehow eliminates some of the scent. I only use yankee or woodwick but it didn’t matter. Using it for a candle warmer is the best way for this item. I have not tried oils, that may make a difference.

I’ve had quite a bundle of the little Scentsy wax cubes hanging around for awhile. ….was so happy to see beautiful burner with warm color changing light. The heat promotes the beautiful fragrance and the light is both calming and relaxing as well as enticing!
