It's a SSD, it's black or very dark grey with a blue label on it and it fits in the space provided in my laptop, which was easy to do. I loaded Windows 10 quickly and seems to be working well.

Update: I choosed to risk again and purchased the same SSD model from WD as a replacement. The new one works with no issue. I cloned all data from the faulty one so there is no difference in the OS and drivers and this one does not disappear like the previous ssd after a few hours of use.Original review:The SSD stops working after 4-5 hours uptime, then the PC cannot detect it. After switching the PC off and on it works again for a few hours. Updating the firmware to 52020100 does not help however it intends to fix this issue. I would expect this from a cheap brand but not from WD. 1st I wanted to buy Kingspec SSD then I decided to go with WD as it supposed to be more reliable. Probably I will choose Kingspec after all as a replacement.

I didn't really need to upgrade my existing 250g SSD that my laptop came with. Even though its just a 6th gen I5, its been running Windows 11 for several months without any problems so I decided it would be good to do a clean install. If I am going to do a clean install I might as well change the SSD at the same time. Ideally I would have installed a Samsung drive as I have plenty of experience with them, but it seems that their M2 Sata drives have disappeared from the market. I saw this one on Amazon and the price is amazing and WD have a good reputation. Clean install was very easy - massive improvement since the old days of 13 floppy discs with windows 3.11. There has been a very noticeable improvement in boot up time (which wasn't bad before) which is in part due to the clean install but I guess the new SSD is contributing. If you are tempted - go for it. Keep the old drive and buy an external USB case for it so you can transfer any old documents etc to the new drive. The only program that I use that has a demand on processing and memory is Cubase 12 pro and this is working fine - I do have 16gb of Ram that the laptop came with so that helps.

Bought this to replace a very slow mechanical HDD in my parent's computer. Used an image ghosting programme to clone the slow old HDD to this new SSD and job done. Immediate and massively noticeable speed improvement to my parent's old PC.

These are terrible. I now have 3 of them, one for live data, another for its backup. These 2 have both failed and become totally unreadable. one failed during a data copy operation, so I bought a new one and replaced the dead one. The other failed during restoring from the backup to the replacement, but its was the backup drive that failed so I've lost both copies of the data - 800 Gb of valuable data. It's apparently a Western Digital firmware problem that needs updating before use, but how would anybody know that!. A complete disaster.

My husband's PC died, so we needed a replacement SSD drive. This is the same one as he was using before. A great price for a good-sized hard drive. It works and does the job it is meant to. very happy. xXx
