Good quality, thank you very much

Apart from a slightly slow beginning, the action in this movie is fast-paced enough to keep you captivated, whilst the dramatic music is in all the right places. However, all this was let down by the director and photographer not having waited for the right light to film in and thereby not making the most of the lavish film-sets and costumes.Richard Chamberlain and Nicholas Farrell make a great pair of convincing, toffee-nosed villains, whilst Mark Umbers perfectly plays the dashing hero who has both brains and brawn whilst skillfully managing not to turn into a posh toff with his upper crust accent. On the other hand, if these were the “A” Team actors than Angus Macfadyen and his pirates must have been the “Z” Team.Indeed, Macfayden pathetically plays Blackbeard as a wishy-washy imbecile instead of the giant of a pirate who in Reality put the Fear of God into everyone whilst shooting off fire-crackers in his own beard. Likewise, his crew of pirates are total wimps and ninnies and the fact that they appear on stage nice and clean and with freshly ironed and laundered shirts only makes them look more ridiculous. In fact, Kermit and the Muppets were more scary in their “Treasure Island” and they were playing the good guys !Unfortunately, this movie could have been so much better if only the producers and director had invested the time and money into making it a memorable blockbuster. Even so, it's action, music and the “A” Team actors still managed to keep both the film alive and myself awake with eager expectation of what was coming next.

Interesting drama

One of the worst films I've ever seen. Film about a drunk pirate. I'm guessing the cast were drunk making this film.
