The Panzers of Prokhorovka: The Myth of Hitler’s Greatest Armoured Defeat

Very interesting book.
I was quite surprised on recieving this book to the time period it covers February 1943 to well into 1944.I am interested in the battle of prokhorovka and was aware of the Russian propaganda regarding grossly inflated German losses. This book takes it to a whole new dimension, the level of detail and research is way beyond any previous publication. If your interested in the theatre of operations then this is a must read.Thought the maps were excellent although the photos underwhelming.

Battle of Kursk
A very technical book which is probably more one for academics. However a good read and highlights the myths and propaganda from both the German and Soviet sides which have distorted the true outcomes of the tank battle which is seen as so critical to the defeat of Germany on the Eastern front.

If Eastern Front WW2 interests you, then this book most certainly will.
Cuts through a mass of deliberate Soviet and latterly Russian misinformation, errors, exaggeration etc. Irony is that the real story is nothing to be ashamed of, far from it. Provides good evidence for things long suspected that the offiicial narrative either ignored or overlooked.

Academically brilliant but unreadable
The research and scholarship of this book is beyond reproach and corrects another Russian/Soviet WW2 myth/lie. However I did not find it entertaining to read as it is very factual with little narrative.

Panzers
Great detailed and well written account of the battle of Kursk during world war 2 . Gives and honest and unbiased view of both sides during the conflict without giving any room for historical revisionism.

Interesting but too technical for me
This is a very interesting book. It’s the record straight regarding one of the more enduring myths of World War II. However, for the general reader, and for me as well, it is perhaps somewhat too technical in its detail about the weekly reports and other data on AFVs.

Facts and figures but short on interesting narrative.
I'm afraid I almost gave up reading this book at page 45. I'm sure it was well researched but to be reading facts and figures over and over again made it, for me, a tediously boring and difficult read. It wasn't until page 90 that one could read a descriptive history of the battle.
