I purchased this after my experience of other Bulldog tools. They are just the best you can buy. They are strong but not too heavy - well designed - and great value for money. It is also great to be able to support a company with a long and proud heritage. Buy a Bulldog you won't regret it.

We recently purchased the Bulldog digging spade 7101 after receiving the news that we had acquired an allotment plot after a lengthy wait. Whilst chomping at the bit and after numerous reviews of less expense gardening tools pointed us in the direction of Bulldog. A fantastic tool helping us make light of a back breaking list of jobs we needed to do. Do not be perturbed by the price, as you pay for what you get. This is a well-made sturdy spade made from one of the few forges remaining in Britain. Less expensive ‘welded’ tools would not have withstood some of the well rooted life we removed from the overgrown plot. A great tool reasonably priced.

You can feel the quality of this spade as soon as you pick it up. I use garden tools heavily and have broken cheap spades. Bulldog are well made and do not outsource their manufacturing to the Far East. I have bought lots of Bulldog tools and they have not let me down yet.

I had 3 shrubs to dig out before making a new garden bed. I bought a £7 spade which broke the first time I used it. I decided not to waste the blade, and bought a new quite expensive handle + rivets + ball-pean hammer. That handle broke the first time I put weight on it. I had wasted 2 weeks of spring and the total cost was more than for the Bulldog. I did the job in 10 minutes with this quality spade. Never again will I make that mistake.

I was about to order a bulldog fork as my husband said he needed one. I said I will order a bulldog one to go with the spade I bought you and he said "that broke in half where it was joined - I don't want another one!" . When I looked on the reviews, I was amazed to see how many others had said the same. I cannot return it because he didn't tell me at the time and that was a few years ago! This is just a warning for other people thinking of buying one! Now which one to buy in future that will not snap or tines bend?

Good sturdy spade. A bit too heavy for a lightweight like me and no ledge on the top to help increase purchase and stop wellies from getting holed. Otherwise a very sturdy quality tool for cutting into heavy soil.

Quite light and easy to use.

Very sturdy. My spade I have had for years snapped, so purchased this one haven't used it yet. It is a little bit bigger than the one that snapped It should hopefully last for years.
