Not the BEST quality but solidly made!
A BRIEF SUMMARY: Difficult assembly. Sturdy and good quality product for the price. Not the most well-designed flat-pack furniture I've ever made but the minor flaws are all very fixable. Cats give this an A+.MOST IMPORTANTLY: it did take me (a small and out of shape but determined and overly caffeinated woman) a total of about 14 hours over the weekend to unpack the parts, inventory the parts, take apart my old metal mattress stand, clear out the space in my bedroom to build this, actually do the building, realize I needed felt pads, go to Home Depot to buy $20 of felt strips and felt squares, apply the felt, do more building, lose hope, recover, get an electric screwdriver, finish building, move things back into place, break down all the boxes and styrofoam, and finally make the bed. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. I still have to put on the last set of doors.HIGHLY RECOMMEND BEFORE YOU START: locate an electric screwdriver or an actual drill. This will make your life much easier. There are MANY screws and a large amount of them do not have pilot holes to go in. Also, get yourself some felt if you're putting this on a hard surface. I used 3 packs of the thin 58" rolls plus 1 pack of the big rectangles that you cut to size (purchased from Home Depot) and I could have used a 4th 58" roll, honestly.THE BED ITSELF - THE PROBLEMS: Had all the parts EXCEPT one little black plastic "foot" on the inner legs (part D9 I think?) was missing. Very minor scuffing in some areas. Not too bad. I think a Magic Eraser will get it out. Everything did fit together but there are some big gaps in some areas (seems like they were left that way on purpose though? maybe for tolerances?) and one of the doors doesn't close all the way but I think I can fix it. There's also clearly a TON of exposed screws and other hardware that stand out pretty badly. I'm going to see about getting some stickers to cover them. The 10 slats are not enough to hold my mattress firmly so I am going to have to get a bunkie board. Be careful when putting in the adjustable shelf - one of the height options is too close to a little crossrail and you will get the shelf stuck if you force it.THE BED ITSELF - THE GOOD: The material is really nice and sturdy overall. There's no wobble but it's still light enough to move alone (if you're determined and applied felt to the bottom beforehand!) I like that the backing screws on instead of nailing on because I can see that making it easier to take the bed apart to move if I ever need to. The drawers lift in and out easily and slide smoothly. The top cubbies have a little "lip" which I think will make it harder for things to fall out and hit me on the head! It looks nice and I love having a little closeable cubby to put my drink so my cat can't knock it on the floor in the middle of the night. My cats love having a place to perch and watch us sleep like little creepy babies! They are already starting to move their toys over.MY SUGGESTIONS TO THE MANUFACTURER:Please drill more pilot holes. Especially for the slats, it was very stressful trying to figure out where they should go. Also more pilot holes would make it easier to assemble with just a hand screwdriver. The hardware could be sorted/packaged a little better. I would love if each of the parts had a separate baggie instead of combining multiple into one baggie! Especially since some of the ones that were combined were really similar. And, the little paper slips with the part numbers for the hardware were hard to read from the outside of the baggie. I ended up writing the numbers in Sharpie on the bags. The hinges and magnets for the doors could have been better quality and I don't think it would cost you much in the grand scheme of things - if the hinges were adjustable, it would have helped with my door problem! Finally, if you included stickers to cover the screws it would have made my day.
