Bidenomic alternative
Hope you have shovel if it's been a while since edging. It does a good maintaining existing edges. You will certainly get a workout using it. It's only as powerful as your arms and back will allow. It comes with 3 segments. Unless you are over 6'3", you'll find only using 2 segments adequate.Given the state of the economy, this is the cheapest option with the lowest impact on your personal energy economy. It's cheaper to eat a sandwich and drink water than it is to buy fuel or power a battery. If you have small property, it's perfect. If you are trying to clean up massive overgrowth, just buy a motor powered edger.Weight is light.Size is adjustable.Performance is acceptable but not stellar.

There's definitely an art to learning to how to use this tool. Whether you have the patience and muscle memory to learn and adapt to it is an entirely different matter. Perhaps the mistake was mine in thinking I'd be able to edge lawns with it, rather than lawns bordering a hard paved surface. It is quick and easy to assemble, and then the fun begins - trying to find the sweet spot between 'stubbornly refusing to move and sometimes skidding and crushing your lawn edge' and 'moving freely and actually cutting overhanging grass'.Get the angle right, and the amount of pressure, and you can enjoy literally seconds of trimming a lawn edge before something miniscule changes and it just locks up and crumbles your lawn edge to mush. It's rather infuriating because when it works, it works. And when it doesn't, it doesn't. There is absolutely no middle ground whatsoever. It's also equally picky about working when you ARE using it on a paved surface, the only difference being it doesn't crush your borders as it refuses to work.I've continued to persevere with it, and the 'the knack' continues to elude me.

It works!
It is not as sturdy as the old one that I had many years ago, but it does work. It is simple and easy to use so there is ot much go go wrong.

It works
Never used one before so I had a bit of a learning curve but once I figured it out it was easy to use. I bought it to edge out a grave marker where the grass had overgrown it. It worked and made a nice neat edge. Have a couple of more markers to do. Will keep it to use annually to keep the markers neat.
