A Powerhouse for Home Backup, Not Ideal for Camper Vans
While the ECO-WORTHY 5120Wh 48-volt Home Backup Power system is a fantastic solution for home energy storage, it's not the ideal choice for camper van installations. The primary reason is the system's requirement for a 120V PV input to charge the batteries. This makes it challenging to integrate into a typical camper van solar setup, which often involves lower voltage solar panels. As new camper van owners, we relied on a contractor's recommendation for both the air conditioner and solar setup. Unfortunately, the recommended ECO-WORTHY inverter/charger and air conditioner unit proved to be too large and power-hungry for our van's capacity. While the system itself is well-built and offers impressive power output, the 51.2-volt batteries are exceptional. Even when used with a different charger/inverter combination, they have proven to be reliable and long-lasting. We've significantly reduced the frequency of battery checks, providing peace of mind during our off-grid adventures. For most camper van owners, a more suitable solution might be a 12V or 24V battery system designed specifically for off-grid applications. However, if you have a specific setup that can accommodate the 120V requirement and the system's size, the ECO-WORTHY batteries are a solid choice.
