Niece loved this thing, makes a good Christmas present for a kid

My son was so excited when he got this for Christmas. He’s been asking for one for a while. He tried very patiently for 2 hours but could not get the clay that came with it to stick to the wheel. His parents each tried as well without any luck. We will purchase separate clay as some of the reviewers have suggested, but why can’t it just come with something that will work well?

This is a decent pottery wheel for kids/teens or someone who is trying to see if they are interested in throwing pottery. I will say, the first time we used this pottery wheel, my 8 year old said it was the best day of her life. So I would say it makes for a great gift!My main complaint is that the pedal only pauses the spinning. It won’t turn it on or change the speed. That is controlled by a dial which got covered in clay during our use. Additionally the pedal cord was way too short. It did not reach the ground from our folding table. We used it as a hand pedal instead- so again, covered in wet clay by the end.This does come with some clay, but you’ll want to buy more very soon! It only has enough for a project or two.

I love this kit, it has everything I needed to make little projects with my 5-year-old. She was able to use it herself under supervision. And I like it's quality and durability for its price it's a perfect match for me!

I think this is a really nice starter kit for kids or adults who want to see if they'd like pottery. It's not super high-end quality, but the wheel does work better than others I've used in this range. I like that the addition of the foot pedal, as I haven't seen that with other kits like this.The main issues with it are the size and stability. Realistically, I don't think you'll get much better for the value, but it's worth mentioning that it can make the learning curve a little steeper than if you had a nicer wheel. I also personally would recommend using different paints because the ones included aren't great.The other tools are pretty standard, and they all work well so far. The clay provided isn't anything to write home about, but they're nice for practicing before you decide if you'd like to invest more in the hobby.

Nice quality small toy pottery wheel. The unit works well and thankfully has adjustable speeds. This was a nice way to introduce a new creative activity.
