Thought the pirate's chest theme might look silly, but these boxes are attractive and convincingly rustic. They look great on my dresser.

Rustic look comes off on your hands
Who wants a rustic looking box where the black is continually coming off on your hands. Well, not me. Going back immediately. Prime returns are the best especially with crap like this.

Nice vintage looking chests
These have the appearance of a nice wooden, vintage storage chests. These are for decor and not truly for storage purposes other than small items. I have these set up to be used as decor in my family room. And I use it to store my misc keys. Things I need and use but not very often.They provide a nice looking addition to my farmhouse decor. I am very pleased.

Good deal on 2 beautiful boxes
Yes, they are lightweight! For $50, what would you expect? They are gorgeous and great for storing small rarely used things away—as opposed to active storage, where their lids are stressed all day long.Treat them nice they'll treat you nice too.I see reviews complaining that these aren't lockable with real brass and solid wood, etc. Do you have any idea how many hundreds of dollars something like that would cost?They're very nice, decorative boxes. Don't get greedy with expectations here, k?

Returned immediately. Not only did I get multiple splinters just taking it out of the box, but the black pain rubbed off on everything it touched. Hands, clothes, blanket. Not for me.

Cheaply made, but looks nice
These boxes LOOK pretty nice, but as soon as you touch them, their cheap build quality is pretty apparent. They're made out of what I think is a lightweight balsa wood, similar to the wood you'd find in a craft store. All of the metal hardware is also lightweight, aluminum, perhaps. Several of the hardware pieces on mine were not very secure and rattle around too. For their price point, I expected a higher quality.So overall, if you're looking for something a bit sturdier, I would pass on these, but if you're in it for the looks alone, these chests ARE nice home decor.

Nice looking set!
These look great sitting on my fireplace. Great to hide lighters in the top box, bottom holds small pieces of wood starters and small pine cones.
