Direct Swap! Fairly easy installation.
This was a direct swap for my super old 6 gallon hot water tank in my RV.The old tank would have a hard time staying lit. I cleaned it out well, and it got better. Next thought was control board - but then I decided I should just replace it entirely. It is literally from 1994.This was a fairly straightforward installation. The only hassle is fishing the remote control into its permanent location. Would have been nice if it was wireless remote.I've only tested it for leaks and to verify its working. The RV is parked currently and I didn't want to fully de-winterize it - but it does work, and creates near instant hot water, as opposed to the 6 gallon tank which was honestly pretty terrible. This is a massive upgrade. We would always turn off the hot water tank while driving. Then park and flip it on to have warm showers / warm water for washing dishes - but it took 30 minutes. This is definitely warm in just a couple mins. For $399 (or less, I saw it has a 20% off coupon) this makes a very large difference in quality of life when youre traveling.Build quality is good. Came double boxed. If you're handy and have basic tools, you can do the installation. If not - I can't see the install costing more than $200-300 bucks (2 hours of labor or so).Well worth it!

Easy to install and works well
I found this unit very easy to install and of high quality. It comes with all parts, including the door. There were minor issues fitting into the existing hole because of screws around the frame. Quick work with a Dremel tool at these locations allowed it to slide right in.It comes with everything you need including a roll of butyl to seal it.I get hot water in about 8 seconds....maybe less. The remote control is very handy and allows instant adjustments to your temperature. Or you can set it and forget it.This is nice for off grid living for the following reasons...1: You conserve propane because you are only heating what you use, not a storage tank.2: You reduce weight because the unit is lighter than the unit it replaced and does not store an extra 6 gallons of water.3: You can use as much hot water as you want without running out. My old tank didn't take me very far being only 6 gallons.
