For a dog that destroys other toys (revised review)
This first part of the review is being added months after the original review was written:After reading many of the one and two star reviews I am compelled to comment.Come on people, every dog who is an aggressive chewer will destroy any toy eventually. Of course, a responsible owner will monitor every toy his pet is using. I'm writing this after providing my dog with another new "Squeaker Bone" and having her remove 50% of the yellow cover in the first 30 minutes. I know she is an aggressive chewer and that is the reason I buy at least two of these toys at a time.I don't expect any dog toy to last forever. I search for toys that will last longer than the average. My dog is an extremely aggressive chewer and I'm happy to continue to use this product knowing I must monitor her destruction of it. I'm OK with her tearing off the cover almost immediately after she starts to play with it. It gives her pleasure and that's what I want to do for her. (As an aside, I suppose I could give her an auto tire to chew on. The thing is, she probably wouldn't play with it. So, even though it would last forever, what would be the point??)Below is the original review:Does your dog destroy most toys? Do you cringe when you purchase a stuffed toy knowing you'll be picking up the shredded parts from the floor the very next day? You may have discovered buying cheap dog toys just isn't a good idea.If so, this toy may be what you have been searching for. Like most dog owners I was aware of the durability of the hard rubber Kong brand toy. I also found my dog was uninterested in playing with one unless it was stuffed with food or smeared with peanut butter.Well, this one is different. It's a Kong hard rubber dog toy covered with a durable fabric. It seems the fuzzy fabric surface will keep my dog's interest and keep her chewing it while the sturdy rubber interior keeps the toy from being totally destroyed in the first day. The hollow center make it just soft enough for her to squeeze, while the squeaky noise-maker helps to keep her interest.Eventually she will tear the fabric completely off. After a longer time, she will even begin to chew the hard rubber into fragments causing me to have to discard the remains of the toy. But, it's far, far more durable than anything else I've found. It's definitely a value for the money. My dog is a young, 44 pound, Australian Shepherd. I believe this toy is the largest one Kong makes and it's just the right size for her.It lasts longer than any other chew toy I've found. After pricing these at both of my national chain pet stores, the price on Amazon was less expensive. I buy two at a time and also one of the football shapes for variety. As of this writing, my dog has been playing with it daily for over a month. The fabric is totally gone, but it's still her favorite toy.It may be just what you are searching for.

The best and worst of indoor dog toys
The best and worst of indoor dog toys!My retriever mix absolutely loves this ball for play indoors. To him its like a tennis ball on steroids, I guess. He will play fetch for an hour and then roll on his back and keep gnawing on it for another hour. For me, I like that it is not a regular size tennis ball that he could damage and then swallow. This thing is large enough and irregular in shape to make that less likely. Durable too for several months. This is the second one I have purchased, and I have already purchased a back up for when #2 dies so that there will be no downtime. The only bad thing about this toy is the squeaker. Not only is it apparently so appealing to my dog that he squeaks it incessantly, but the toy squeaks when it is compressed AND when it is released, giving a double effect for your money. Ugh! After a while, its like living next to an airport or train track, you become numb to it...

Football anyone?
Oh Kong how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.....1 - great squeaker2 - you're a football3 - you're a great color - even my color blind dogs can find you in the dark even though you don't glow - though that would be cool!4 - my dogs have learned how to play football with youThis review could actually apply to all the Kong fluorescent day-glo green products but tis the season for football.Watching my three dogs (2-golden retrievers and 1-half black lab/half golden retriever) play football is a delight to my eyes. Long gone are the days of watching my two-footed children, now are the days of watching my four-legged ones play. And what better play than with a KONG toy?I feel that this football is well constructed and lasts just as long as any other toy. The squeaker stays active for quite a while and it is hard to "break into" this toy. Sure, it eventually needs replacing but seriously, three large dogs who play football whenever they can? I need to do a video, no one believes me.Baxter usually runs past and captures the ball, he then zigzags across the yard as Duke tries to block him from the endzone. Meanwhile, Prince is waiting offside in the hopes that Baxter will fumble and he can grab the ball and run to the other goal. Touchdown! Baxter wins the game and does his endzone dance.Yes, Kong supplies awesome toys for my dogs - be sure to pick one up for yours.
