Works great to strain tomatoes for BBQ sauce.
Before buying I could find few reviews about using this for tomatoes. I make BBQ sauce and was washing, cooking and them running them through a clamp on counter strainer with motor. Now I just rinse them off, cut them if they are big , and them through this attachment. Our Kitchenaid mixer stays on the counter anyway so I didnt have to put another appliance on the counter. I did run the pulp and juice through a small handheld strainer to get any seeds that made it through. There were not alot and dropped it straight into pot. It works great, superfast and easy, and then straight into dishwasher.

Solid
SolidWe ordered this for grinding meat and making sausage. While it doesn't quite have the polish and finish of a Kitchen Aid brand attachment, it seems to work great and be really solidly made.Overall, I'm very happy with the "Fruit & Vegetable Strainer Attachment and Food Meat Grinder Attachment for Kitchenaid Stand Mixer with Sausage Stuffer Tubes and Fruits Juicer Auger Strainer".

Easily gets clogged
I give this 3 stars based on maybe the grinder works ok. The auger for the grinder appears to start at the back of the hole (metal auger) vs the strainer auger that leaves at least a quarter inch gap to the rear of the hole (white plastic). The strainer will quickly plug with peels within a minute or two of use. Tried tomatoes and apples with the small and medium strainer. All plugged quickly. I believe this is due to the plastic auger not covering the entire hole and having to push the buildup of peels through two inches at the end of the strainer. That two inches should be tapered out for less resistance or removed to an outlet funnel like the Johnny applesauce brand design.

Plastic shavings in food; pieces don't fit
I returned this after attempting to make tomato sauce. As another reviewer said, the metal "bit" does not fit snugly into the plastic auger (white spiral piece). It leaves a gap of about 1 cm which creates a clog and allowed tomato to get into the hole of the Kitchenaid stand mixer (where the metal drill bit secures). See photo with ruler - the metal springs of the "drill bit" should be secure and fully inside the plastic. The bit is too big to fit snugly into the the plastic auger, which is then too big to fit in the metal strainer cone. This caused the auger plastic to rub inside the metal strainer cone and created plastic shavings which fell into my tomato sauce. Either this is a design flaw or a defective item. After 2 tomato sauce making sessions and several attempts to confirm I was setting up the attachment correctly, I decided to return this. I did not try the meat grinder accessory pieces.
