For PC only, great that no drivers needed to power it up, worked straight out of the box, nice!
I didn't mind having it in cheap plastic, for £8 does it do the job? He'L yeah.Right, what I liked about the product is truly plug-and-play, worked on 2 PCs no questions asked. What I didn't like much about it is that the performance was a little slow, I noticed the main CPU was doing the muscle work rather than the USB hardware itself, but frankly I can't complain about it, the unit did not cost much and did the job as expected.Best to use for presentations, external viewing, or an additional email/inbox display, I didn't feel it was meant for gaming without a good system CPU.

It's OK in an emergency
The idea with this is a little odd, if you think about it for too long. If you have a machine that has USB 3.0 ports it's quite likely that it'll have an HDMI port (or two!) already. Failing that, something that can talk a common language, like DisplayPort or DVI (which is what my media server has). My very elderly laptop, though, has a broken DisplayPort and USB 3.0, so sometimes these things align.Getting this going was initially a mystery, because there's nothing but the adaptor in the packaging - no instructions or anything - but fortunately the adaptor presents itself as a flash drive as well as a display adaptor. The virtual flash drive has a PDF readme, which doesn't really explain much other than recommending disabling or uninstalling your antivirus. Lol nope.Unlike the USB C to HDMI adaptors, which rely on the internal mechanisms of USB C to redirect graphics directly from the GPU to the display, to go from USB A to any form of display requires a lot more effort. So much effort that it warms up very quickly! If you want to do much more than simple office work you're going to hit the limit of the USB bandwidth very quickly. It's not even remotely plug-n-play, hence the required driver. Sadly the driver isn't available from anywhere other than the flash drive (and it's possible to delete the files on that) - so no Windows Update support. There's also an Android .apk file for if you really want to fly by the seat of your pants, and a MacOS driver that almost certainly hasn't worked for several versions of the OS.For the price it's ok, and the fact that it works at all is impressive, but the sketchiness of the instructions and installation, together with the usage limitations, marks it down.

Great quality product
This device expands a laptop or a pc. Most new laptops have a built in HDMI port which is fine but what if you want a second remote screen to give you three working screens? This device does just that.It works with windows 11 and backward compatible with 10, 8, 7.Mouse or document drag is seamless between screens and for those who need that functionality, this works exactly as it should. It does get warm, not enough to toast bread but it does get warm so expect that. The devices comes with an in built driver which your machine will recognise but also has a disk so you can email your IT with drivers. The disk is, or at least mine was, clean from virus etc..Highly recommended.

Very simple to use
I occasionally have to use an old PC laptop running Windows 11 (just) to check PowerPoint presentations for glitches and poor font usage/Presenter View etc. This little adapter allows me to add a larger HDMI screen which helps a lot.Easy to use but loses a point for not supporting macOS on my MacBook Pro as well.

Does the job, but could be much better
So this kind of device is really helpful when you need to connect multiple devices to something that only has a single video output and does not support display port alt protocol over USB (aka thunderbolt). It isnt plug and play. You need to install software before you can use it. That wouldn’t be a big deal, but the software looks very sketchy cause it says you should disable your anu virus before installing and in general does not look very professional packaged. Also, a USB A connected device will suffer from inherent bandwidth limitations which will limit the video quality. And this one gets a little worse after a while once it heats up.All in all, it will do in a pinch, but there are better products out there.Listed Price when I reviewed it: £8.07(Disclaimer: I received this for free as part of the Amazon Vine program, but the views here are based on my own experiences and not edited or influenced by anyone)

Great cost effective way of supporting two monitors (or displays) utilising a USB-A port
I was looking for a fairly cheap way of being able to connect my PC to a second monitor. My PC is fairly old and it doesn't have any USB-C ports, it only has a total of 3 USB-A ports - one on the front and two on the back. For connectivity to your monitor it only has a single HDMI port.I do actually have a USB-C to HDMI cable for my laptop as the USB-C port supports DP ALT mode so that solution works great with my laptop. However, my PC doesn't have any USB-C ports and no DisplayPort either so that cable can't be used in this scenario unfortunately. This is why I was so glad to see this cable, and also see that the price was about half of what the cable for my laptop cost me. The reason why they have managed to keep the cost down is most likely to do with the fact that they don't have any support for the Apple MAC. This cable will only work on a Windows PC, but it does give you the ability to either mirror your screen AND the ability to extend your screen so that the two monitors appear and work as if they were one larger monitor.I know that this doesn't have support for the Apple MAC, but the reason why I'm not marking it down on that is because the price reflects it's limitations. If I got something that supported both MAC and Windows then it would have cost me around about £15, and I would have bee paying for functionality that I really didn't need so I'm glad that the adapter only supports Windows as I didn't have to waste money on a feature that I would never use, and that is why I have given it the full 5 stars that it deserves - which are for the features that it does offer and it's good quality build and easy of setup and use.
